THE WEATHER STATION AND JENNIFER CASTLE TEAM UP FOR POLARIS COLLABORATION SESSION SPONSORED BY STINGRAY MUSIC

The Weather Station and Jennifer Castle have recorded a pair of songs together for the third edition of the Polaris Cover Sessions, sponsored by Stingray Music.
The acts came together for a single day at Sugar Shack studio in London, Ontario this past August to record two songs — The Weather Station’s “I Tried to Wear the World (feat. Jennifer Castle)” and Jennifer Castle’s “Midas Touch (feat. The Weather Station).”
The songs will be featured exclusively on Stingray Music for four weeks during the months of September and October. A video shot by Colin Medley featuring in-the-studio performance footage of The Weather Station’s “I Tried to Wear the World (feat. Jennifer Castle)” as well as an interview featuring Castle and The Weather Station’s Tamara Lindeman by Stingray Music host and Polaris juror Zachary Monson can now be seen on the Stingray Music YouTube channel.
“I’ve looked up to Jennifer for a long time and she’s been a songwriting and singing hero of mine for probably forever,” said The Weather Station’s Lindeman. “I just thought it would be cool to see inside of her process and her world and learn something and it’s actually been really cool because we’re more similar than I thought and I see her doing things and it all makes sense to me and I understand her music better and it’s exciting.”
“I came to the project via Tam and it seemed like just a really rare opportunity to go into the studio and have that resource provided for us,” said Castle. “So I think we both kind of jumped on it on that level. I just feel grateful for a day in the studio today and an opportunity to do something we wouldn’t be able to ‘afford’ to try.”

Jennifer Castle and The Weather Station are both two-time Polaris nominees. Castle’s Pink City made the Polaris Short List in 2015 while her Angels Of Death made the Long List this year. The Weather Station’s Loyalty album made the Long List in 2015 and the self-titled album made the Long List this year as well.
Past Polaris Collaboration Sessions include Shad and Holy Fuck coming together as Holy Shad to create The Legend Of Cy Borg EP and Buffy Sainte-Marie teaming up with Tanya Tagaq for “You Got To Run (Spirit Of The Wind).”
A vinyl 7” of both songs will be given away for free during Record Store Day in Canada, April 13, 2019.

FONT ÉQUIPE POUR UNE SESSION DE COLLABORATION DU POLARIS AVEC LE SOUTIEN DE STINGRAY MUSIC

The Weather Station et Jennifer Castle ont enregistré une paire de chansons ensemble pour la troisième édition des Sessions de collaboration du Polaris, commanditées par Stingray Music.
Les artistes ont passé une journée ensemble au studio Sugar Shack à London, Ontario, au mois d’août pour enregistrer deux chansons: « I Tried to Wear the World (feat. Jennifer Castle) » de The Weather Station et « Midas Touch (feat. The Weather Station) » de Jennifer Castle.
Les chansons seront diffusées exclusivement sur Stingray Music pour une période de quatre semaines étalées sur les mois de septembre et octobre. Un vidéo réalisé par Colin Medley lors de l’enregistrement en studio de la chanson « I Tried to Wear the World (feat. Jennifer Castle) » de The Weather Station ainsi qu’une entrevue avec Castle et Tamara Lindeman de The Weather Station menée par Zachary Monson, animateur de Stingray Music et membre du jury Polaris, sont disponibles maintenant sur la chaîne YouTube de Stingray Music.
« J’admire le travail de Jennifer depuis un long moment et elle est une héroïne pour moi, en tant qu’auteure-compositrice-interprète, depuis probablement toujours », a dit Lindeman de The Weather Station. « Je me suis dit que ce serait cool de découvrir son processus et son univers, et d’apprendre quelque chose. Et l’expérience a été vraiment plaisante parce que nous sommes plus similaires que je croyais. Je la vois faire des trucs qui font beaucoup de sens pour moi et je comprends mieux sa musique et c’est très excitant. »
« Je suis embarquée dans le projet grâce à Tam. Ça me paraissait comme une rare opportunité d’aller en studio et d’avoir toutes les ressources nécessaires à notre disposition », a dit Castle. « Donc je crois que nous avons toutes les deux sauté sur l’occasion, entre autres, pour cette raison-là. Je suis juste très reconnaissante pour une journée en studio aujourd’hui, et pour une opportunité de faire quelque chose que nous n’aurions pu nous ‘permettre’ d’essayer en réalité. »

Jennifer Castle et The Weather Station ont chacune été nommées deux fois pour le Polaris. Pink City de Castle s’est retrouvé sur la courte liste du Polaris en 2015 alors que son Angels Of Death a fait partie de la longue liste cette année. L’album Loyalty de The Weather Station a fait la longue liste en 2015 et son album homonyme s’est également retrouvé sur la longue liste cette année.
Les Sessions de collaboration du Polaris précédentes incluent le EP The Legend Of Cy Borg de Holy Shad, le résultat d’une collaboration entre Shad et Holy Fuck, ainsi que le partenariat de Buffy Sainte-Marie et Tanya Tagaq pour « You Got To Run (Spirit Of The Wind) ».
