ORMISTON DELIVERS NOSTALGIC VIDEO FOR REBEL

NEW ALBUM HAMMER DOWN OUT JUNE 4
ON LISBON LUX RECORDS

Toronto, ON – March 17, 2021 – Today, multifaceted Montréal artist and producer, Ormiston, delivers a nostalgic, TV-lit video for his new single, Rebel. The song will be featured on his upcoming debut project, Hammer Downout June 4 on Lisbon Lux Records. The video was directed by Montreal filmmaker, Ariel Poupart, and sees Ormiston and a band performing Rebel in a cinematic landscape, evoking a retro mood, as if viewing through your TV at home. “Along with Ormiston, we decided to go with a Top of the Pops setting for his musical performance. I loved the texture of the song Rebel that felt very analogic to me,” Ariel says of the production. “I wanted to recreate that same texture though the images and got very inspired by everything that could alter the image. When we settled on using old cathodic televisions as a means to distort and modify the visuals, I got very enthusiastic and so we got 13 of them!”

Ormiston is the solo project of Montreal-born Nicola Ormiston; a Singer-songwriter and producer of a sunny and laidback sound, somewhere between indie pop, chillwave and yacht rock where you can find influences from Toro Y Moi, MGMT and electro-disco.  Born into a bilingual Montreal family, he was raised around female musicians and grew up with a strong sense of melody. After mixing and producing some tracks for Milk & Bone, Heartstreets, Misage and Freida Mari, he released in 2013 the song, Typically Her (under the name Beverlay), that ended up being remixed by Kaytranada, reaching more than three million streams worldwide.  In 2020, he signed with Canadian label Lisbon Lux Records (Le Couleur, Russell Louder, Radiant Baby and Das Mörtal).

Stay tuned for more new music from Ormiston ahead of his project release this spring.
