LATEST SINGLE LET IT RIDE CLIMBS ACTIVE ROCK AND ALTERNATIVE RADIO CHARTS

Toronto, ON – October 15, 2020 – Today, alternative-rock duo, The Blue Stones, shared Live on Display – a powerful four song performance video featuring their latest singles. Live on Display is a full-production stage show set against the warm, vintage tones of the Ontario antique store, Smash Salvage, creating a unique viewing experience that feels as though you’re catching the dynamic rock duo in a small club. Tarek Jafar (vocals/guitar) and Justin Tessier (drums) play their hearts out through fog and pulsing strobe lights as they move to different parts of the store throughout the set. 

The set kicks things off with The Blue Stones’ most recent release, the explosive rock anthem, Let It Ride, before diving into the lo-fi meets grunge vibe of Grim. From there, the band puts their range as songwriters on full display with Careless, an alternative R&B track complimented by a finessed mix of keys, vibey guitars, and 808 kicks and snare. For the set finale, the band shine a new light on their hit single, Shakin’ Off The Rust – starting with Jafar solo on a vintage piano before picking up his guitar and joining Tessier in leaving every last ounce of energy “on stage.” Live on Display was directed and filmed by Tarek’s brother, Sameer Jafar, and producer, Paul Meany (Mutemath, Twenty One Pilots), served as creative director. Speaking on Live On Display, the band shared: “The lockdown really got to us. We missed performing live, and wanted to give our fans something more than the standard ‘livestream from home’ experience. We put our heads together with Paul and Sameer to plan something that had yet to be done, and that was unapologetically us. After several weeks of pre-production, we got together to film a real performance. Something to remind people that we’ll never stop making noise.”

When Jafar and Tessier formed The Blue Stones, they were facing uncertainty about who they were individually. What they did know for sure, though, was that they wanted to make music together – and, so they did. Following the success of their debut album, Black Holes, the band quickly found a following in the alternative rock world that led to them sharing the stage with the likes of grandson, Welshly Arms, and Reignwolf. As they began working on new music, The Blue Stones caught the attention of producer Paul Meany (Mutemath, Twenty One Pilots), with whom they eventually entered the studio with. Working with Meany led to The Blue Stones exploring – and creating – music in a different way than they had before, with Jafar taking a new approach when it came to tackling lyrics. Through this process, the band truly discovered who they were during the writing process. They’ve crafted something that shimmers with such purity and truth – musically and lyrically – that one can’t help but be swept up and carried off by the songs they’ve constructed. The fruits of their labour are already on display with single Shakin’ Off The Rust, which was released last fall, charting Top 5 at U.S. radio on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Radio and seeing over 11 million streams worldwide. With a new album set for release next year on Entertainment One, The Blue Stones show no signs of slowing down as one of alternative rock’s most exciting acts.
