TORONTO, ON – April 11, 2023 – Vancouver-based record producer and multi-instrumentalist, zensei ゼンセー (ZEN-say), releases his highly anticipated debut album, destination heartbreak, via Monstercat Records today. The record serves as a raw and honest portrayal of the ups and downs of love, as songs explore sadness and resentment, as well as melancholic and introspective avenues. “But through it all, there's a sense of hope that runs through the album - despite the heartbreaks that have shaped me,” says zensei ゼンセー. “I hope that listeners will find comfort and solace in my music, and maybe even see a reflection of their own experiences.” Listen to low-fi leaning, hip-hop laden and soothing, destination heartbreak, here.
 
To further celebrate the release of destination heartbreak, there will be a live zensei ゼンセー performance premiering on the Monstercat Silk’s YouTube channel, tomorrow at 12:00 p.m. Pacific Time, which you can check out here.
 
For zensei ゼンセー, the making of destination heartbreak was both an exhilarating and nerve-wracking experience. Differing from his previous work, he used down sampling and ran it through old tape and amps at his home studio. This gave each song a stronger vintage feel, pushing him out of his comfort zone and helping zensei ゼンセー grow as an artist.
 
“I took a leap of faith and started experimenting with new sounds, genres, and writing techniques. It was daunting at first, but as I delved deeper into the creative process, I felt a renewed sense of excitement and inspiration,” zensei ゼンセー adds. “I found myself taking risks and trying things I never would have considered before, and the results have been incredible. Each new song feels like a breakthrough, a step forward on my musical journey.”
