TORONTO, ON – September 16, 2022 - Today, Minneapolis by way of Kinshasa, “blissed-out” (The FADER) singer-songwriter and guitarist, Miloe, releases his EP, gaps, via Loma Vista Recordings. gaps infuses traditional Congolese beats inspired by Soukous and ndombolo with American bedroom-pop. A poetic voice for the young African diaspora, Miloe created gaps to process his feelings of anxiety, inspired by a new sense of musical expression and how music can take listeners outside of their bodies and time itself.

To celebrate the release, the EP is accompanied by track, rewind, featuring PawPaw Rod, a bubbly track about accepting a breakup and embracing change; it comes with a rich video directed by Will Tooke (YG, J. Cole), buoyed by vivid shots invoking synesthesia. Watch the video here.

The release follows singles gapsmake ur way featuring 80purppp, floatingelastic and where u are, which received critical praise from Teen Vogue, MTV, UPROXX and more. Later this month, Miloe is heading out on tour with COIN, with a stop at Baby’s All Right on September 25th for his first ever headline show in NYC.

Miloe is the musical project of Bob Kabeya, a 21-year old artist based in Minneapolis. Growing up in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the sonic imprint of Miloe’s days there stayed palpable when his family made the 7000 mile journey to Minneapolis to join their father, who had been granted asylum three years prior. Suddenly dropped into the land of such punk legacies as Husker Dü, The Replacements, and Soul Asylum and Prince, Bobby’s musical destiny had perhaps unwittingly been cut out for him. While working his way through the Twin Cities’ basement show circuit, Kabeya chipped away at Miloe’s debut EP, Greenhouse. The project showcased a sunnier, pop-oriented side to Miloe.
