SWEET ALIBI CELEBRATE RELEASE OF NEW ALBUM MAKE A SCENE

ANNOUNCE SPRING TOUR DATES ACROSS CANADA

LISTEN TO ALBUM CLOSER NEXT SOMEWHERE

Toronto, ON – January 28, 2022 – Today, roots-pop outfit, Sweet Alibi, are thrilled to share their latest offering, Make A Scene (via Comino Music). A melodic experience focused on hooky guitar lines and layered beats, the record is an electrifying sonic adventure, with an elevated sound for the band ringing through on each track. Listen to the album here featuring the driving final track, Next Somewhere.

Whether the voices of Jess Rae Ayre, Amber Nielsen, and Michelle Anderson are tightly braided together, as they are in Make A Scene’s super-sticky title track, or are ornamenting Ayre’s lead on the gorgeously propulsive and contemplative Slow Down, Sweet Alibi’s phrasings are at once their main attraction and chief calling card.

With the new record, the band masterfully delivers soulful roots-pop, elevated by the trio’s luminous vocal harmonies. Produced by Matt Peters and Matt Schellenberg (a.k.a. members of indie-pop squad, Royal Canoe, who produce under the Deadmen moniker), Make A Scene weds rich lyrical themes to wildly accessible songs such as the propulsive Confetti – which occupied CBC Music’s Top 20 for an impressive eight weeks – building on previous airplay Sweet Alibi enjoyed on satellite and terrestrial radio. Bassist Alasdair Dunlop and drummer Sandy Fernandez round out the acclaimed Western Canadian Music Award winners.

Thematically, the album delves into life on the road – a life that the band is excited to get back to this spring as they embark on a run of dates across Canada in April and May. Kicking off on April 9th in Killarney, Manitoba, the band will bring the songs from Make A Scene to life on stages throughout western Canada and Ontario. Full details can be found below.

There is more than a touch of magic in the luminous vocal harmonies powering Sweet Alibi’s Make A Scene – let’s just say, goosebumps are inevitable!
