"For if the king is the ruler
Then I'm the king of kings
Bow down to the maker of all things
Bow down, bow down, bow down,
Cower before me"

Toronto, ON – November 3, 2022 – Today, multi JUNO Award-nominated Toronto artist, STORRY, delivers the cathartic and empowering cinematic visual for her song, Bow Down. Filmed on the shoreline of the White Cliffs of Dover in England, and directed by Karimah Zakia Issa (Scaring Women At Night, TIFF 2022), the piece embodies the track's key messages, while drawing energy of surrounding elements and nature. It highlights the  parallels between the sex industry and music industry, as an evergreen call out to eradicate misogyny and oppression of communities - especially women - and a reminder to take their power back. Watch Bow Down here.

"The video chooses to focus on the power of women and reclaiming our true ordinance in the world," STORRY says. "We praise the sun, earth, air and water. Just like the elements, we are gentle and lifegiving but also formidable. We are nurturing, we are power, we are ‘the maker of all things’.”

On the process, director Karimah Zakia Issa adds: "For Bow Down, STORRY and I wanted to showcase the natural strength of women and the power of community. The focus is on uplifting each other – helping to support someone out of a dark place so they can rise again. The vibe isn’t ‘STORRY is THE king’ but rather that she’s a king among kings. We also wanted to communicate that this power doesn’t have to feel aggressive - just as the ocean and cliffs are powerful so is our natural form. So is gracefulness, so is reflection.”

In addition, STORRY announces a western Canadian tour in January, joining Tanika Charles on an extensive run across British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan. See below for a full list of dates.

Bow Down remains a standout from STORRY's album, CHIII: The Come Up, which will see an extended edition,  CHIII: The Come Up Deluxe, launch on January 24, 2023. Listeners can expect an expansion of the original version with her latest single, Intimate Abuse, new remixes and visuals that further the impact of its ever-resonant themes.

Continuing the STORRY-line of of CHIII, Intimate Abuse gives a glimpse of the resolution of the previously difficult chapters of STORRY's life. After surviving an abusive relationship, STORRY was left with the shards of broken self-esteem caused by trauma that she needed to put back together again. The song is about finding someone beautiful and loving, who doesn’t see her as broken, but amazing in all her complexity, while healing in the process.  Listen to Intimate Abuse and watch the video here

Launching just before the pandemic and a 2020 JUNO Award nomination for her song, Another Man, for Reggae Recording of the Year, CHIII: The Come Up  is based on a chapter of STORRY's life; a woman exiting the sex industry to enter the music industry, only to discover that both are equally misogynistic and problematic. STORRY grapples with her relationships with her mother/family, romantic relationships, with her careers, dreams and with money. Explore the visuals from the release here

In 2021, STORRY dropped an ambitious EP titled INTERLUDE-19, another conceptual piece with an array of emotions and genres that take her listeners on a journey, marking a monumental transition between chapters. The audio-visual project featured stunning pieces that accompanied the album narrative - watch them here

STORRY does not live in any specific genre. Like her music, STORRY is multi-dimensional and fluid. She draws influences from hip hop to opera, reggae to musical theatre. She is enigmatic, balancing grit with poise. Learn about STORRY below and stay tuned as she unveils more from the Deluxe edition of CHIII: The Come Up next year!
