SNOTTY NOSE REZ KIDS SHARE NEW SINGLE TRENDSETTER FT. DILLANPONDERS

PICK UP THREE MORE WESTERN CANADIAN MUSIC AWARDS THIS PAST WEEK

ON TOUR ACROSS NORTH AMERICA THIS FALL

TORONTO, ON – October 7, 2022 – Following the release of their undeniably confident track, I’M GOOD, and just ahead of Indigenous People’s Day in the U.S., Snotty Nose Rez Kids are back with their latest single, TRENDSETTER.

Featuring prolific artist, DillanPonders, and produced by Bay-area producer, KYRIGO, TRENDSETTER sees Yung Trybez and Young D acknowledging the ways that they have set trends in music, style and fashion – often going their own direction and staying true to who they are. Very much a part two to their 2019 hit, Boujee Natives, TRENDSETTER draws attention to all the way Trybez and D embody the ‘Boujee Native’ aesthetic: confidence, style, and talent. Listen here.

“We're always gonna’ keep evolving and doing new things,” says Young D. “Ultimately, we're trying to be the role models for future generations and if they can see us doing our thing, being unapologetically us, and that gives them hope and courage to go make something that's their own, then we're doing our job."

"We've always done our own thing, developing and evolving our music style and our look,” adds Yung Trybez. “We set out to be unapologetically ourselves in everything we do and we're starting to see people catching on, emulating what we're doin’. The hook says it all, 'I can see the future, man, I feel like Spike Lee. Rollin in my spaceship in my mid-fly Nikes. If you don't really like me why you look like me.’ That's what this song is about. We've always been doing us."

The tracks is the duo’s second collaboration with Dillan after the Toronto-based artist tapped SNRK and Nate Husser to join his King of the Town Remix in 2021. After Young D moved to Toronto just before the pandemic and befriended Dillan, the two kept in touch and slowly started working on music together, with TRENDSETTER becoming the end result.

"We respect Dillan, that's our big dog,” continues Trybez. “He's another artist that's doing his own thing and we respect his moves. For a song like this it just made sense to bring him on and he set the tone with a fire verse."

TRENDSETTER is the continuation of SNRK’s campaign of confidence coming out of the pandemic. With over 70 shows this year alone under their belt, two JUNO Award nominations, three Polaris Music Prize short list placements, and 10 Western Canadian Music Award wins – including three that were picked up just this past week – it’s clear that SNRK have much to be confident about! The band will be on tour bringing their new music to audiences across North America this fall, with Canadian dates coming in St. John’s, Victoria and Toronto.
