SET FOR RELEASE ON OCTOBER 27
VIA LISBON LUX RECORDS

TORONTO, ON – September 20, 2023 – Today, Montreal indie-pop singer, songwriter and producer, Ormiston, reveals Cherry Picker, the new single from his forthcoming new album, Highway Restaurant, which is set for release on October 27 via Lisbon Lux Records. A deeply moody track for fans of Men I Trust and Munya, Cherry Picker perfectly embodies the feeling of cruising around a strange city at night, while knowing there are going to be some eventful twists and turns. Cherry Picker serves as the third offering from Ormiston's new album, following the previously released singles Lose Yourself - a sunny and relaxed track highlighted by 80s synth and guitar - and the pristine, emotional indie song, Distortion of Reality. Inspired by an old acquaintance that always left Ormiston “starry-eyed”, Cherry Picker sees the artist flowing through traffic on a moody night in a strange city. Being guided through the unknown, during an eventful night, with only his engaging beats and the city lights.

With +400k streams, Ormiston - the solo project of Nicola Ormiston - creates sunny and relaxed music, full of light and engaging indie pop rhythms. Falling somewhere indie pop, chillwave and yacht rock, listeners will hear influences of Toro Y Moi, MGMT as well as an electro-disco touch.

In 2020, Ormiston signed with Canadian label, Lisbon Lux Records, and released his debut album, Hammer Down (2021). Cinematic and full of groove, the album explores love stories and failed relationships on optimistic indie-pop. The opus was well received by the public and the song, Time Fades, was also featured in Pete Davidson's latest film, Meet Cute.
