LOUISE BURNS SHARES HAUNTING RENDITION OF DEPECHE MODE CLASSIC SEE YOU

TORONTO, ON – November 4, 2022 – Today, acclaimed Vancouver producer-songwriter, Louise Burns, is thrilled to share her brand new single, See You – a haunting rendition of the Depeche Mode classic. Out on Light Organ Records, the track finds Burns remodeling the peppy, Martin Gore-penned electro-pop anthem into a sophisticated slow jam with a velvet-lined vibrato vocal tucking itself into a mauve-tinted haze of snap beats and synth psychedelia. “I love Depeche Mode, so it felt like I was entering blasphemy territory by choosing to cover them,” remarks Burns. “I chose See You because despite being one of their earliest hits, it’s not as well-known as their later years and I think it deserves more attention. It’s a perfect pop song, and exemplifies what Depeche Mode do best – incredible production and instrumentation that only enhances what was already a great song. We went with a more slowed down, elegant Bryan Ferry style of treatment because I was feeling that energy, yet knew the song could hold up no matter what we did with it!”
The song was co-produced between Burns and Jason Corbett (ACTORS) at his Jacknife Studios in Vancouver. “This was the first song Jason Corbett and I did together, and was a great chemistry test, as we both love Depeche Mode and that era of music, yet wanted to create something new and fresh rather than throw-back oriented,” Burns adds.
