Toronto, ON – May 25, 2023 – Montreal experimental pop record label, Lisbon Lux Records, is thrilled to be celebrating its 10th anniversary this year! The past decade has seen the label help develop and support some of Canada’s finest artists, and on June 7th, they will be taking over Toronto’s Monarch Tavern to commemorate the milestone with a free showcase featuring some of their incredible roster. Attendees will be treated to performances by Russell Louder, Ormiston, Radiant Baby, Le Couleur and Super Plage, with free merch available to CMW Pro pass holders. See here and below for full details.

“Lisbon Lux is 10 years of developing Canadian artists without artistic compromise,” reflects Founder, Julien Manaud. “From our first signings that today enjoy international renown (Le Couleur, Das Mörtal) to our most recent signings of emerging artists (DVTR, Super Plage, Grand Public), we continue to search for good songs and relevant artists that allow us to develop the Lisbon Lux touch. 2023 will be a year of celebration, with several events coming up, and we are very excited that our first event will be in Toronto on June 7th at the Monarch Tavern, with five artists from the label performing!”

Russell Louder (they/them) is a songwriter, producer and performer born and raised in Epekwitk (Prince Edward Island, Canada). Their music is carried by a powerful clear voice reminiscent of Florence and the Machine, Eurythmics and La Roux. You only have to see them in concert once to fall for the luminous and authentic world they've built - both poignant and danceable. In 2021, Russell released their debut album, Humor, on Lisbon Lux to critical acclaim, including being selected for the prestigious Polaris Prize Long List. Their single, Hello Stranger, stayed on CBC Music's Top 20 list for four consecutive weeks following the album's release. Russell currently pays rent in Tiohtià:ke (Montreal, CA) while their heart waits for them on the shores of Epekwitk.

Ormiston is the solo project of Montreal's Nicola Ormiston; singer, songwriter and producer of a sunny and relaxed music. Between indie pop, chillwave and yacht rock, we find influences like Toro Y Moi, MGMT as well as an electro-disco touch. In 2020, he signed with Lisbon Lux and released his debut album, Hammer Down (2021). Cinematic and full of groove, his album explores love stories and failed relationships on optimistic indie-pop. The opus was well received by the public and the song, Time Fades, was also featured in Pete Davidson's latest film, Meet Cute. Ormiston's next album is scheduled for release in the fall of 2023.

Radiant Baby, aka Félix Mongeon, comes from the Montreal music scene. He discovered and learned music composition on his own, all while pursuing his PhD in social science. After a few electronic instrumental sets, he decided to layer his compositions with his own vocals to express his energy on stage and to communicate with the audience. Radiant Baby played several shows on Montreal stages, shortly after which he released his first EP, It’s My Party (2017), followed by LP Restless (2019), both published on Lisbon Lux. His most recent album, Pantomime, draws inspiration from 70s vintage, passing through glam rock, punk, disco, and new wave. The fiery and rough energy of his music cultivates paradoxes, juxtaposing vulnerable, melancholic, and romantic ambience, similar to artists such as Bowie, Blondie, Suicide, Pulp, and Serge Gainsbourg.

Montreal trio, Le Couleur, created by Laurence Giroux-Do, Patrick Gosselin and Steeven Chouinard, first rose to prominence with an electro-pop sound as bright as the lights of the now-defunct Studio 54 with the EPs Voyage Love (2013) and Dolce Désir (2015), followed by the acclaimed P.O.P. (2016) and Concorde (2020). With rich and irresistibly danceable performances, Le Couleur delivers decadent and dynamic shows – full of exhilarating energy. In addition to their four European tours (UK, FR, IT), the trio, which has over 100 dates under its belt, has made notable appearances at SXSW (US), Sound City (UK), Fimpro (MX), etc. Le Couleur is back with a new single, Sentiments nouveaux, a languorous slow disco track flirting with 80s sounds, which brings us to the search of sensations and exaltations. This first single is a preview of a new album to come in the fall of 2023.

Founded at the end of 2019, Super Plage offers a bewitching sound flirting with nu-disco sounds. The artist puts forward the French language and the female artists of his entourage in order to create a bright, playful and colourful universe where it feels good to party. A true creative machine, Super Plage has released three original albums in three years: Super Plage I, Super Plage II (winner of the GAMIQ Electro Album in 2021) and Électro-vacances (nominated at the ADISQ and winner of the GAMIQ Electro Album in 2022), as well as the remix album REMIXTAPE. With his fourth opus, Magie à minuit (Lisbon Lux Records), released earlier this year, the artist once again succeeds in lighting up the nightlife with his subtle and touching house-pop style. A definitely refreshing album and entirely devoted to his ultimate quest: dancing and having fun until the end of the night.
