"Lost Cause is fit to burst, a tightly-wound slice of Energizer Bunny-tempo pop with distorted guitars adding a newfound grittiness to Laur Elle's sound." - Exclaim!

TORONTO, ON – October 13, 2023 – If she’s not on your playlists already, be prepared to be obsessed with Laur Elle! Today, the rising indie-pop singer-songwriter unveils her highly-anticipated debut album, Delayed Reaction, along with the music video for album highlight, Lost Cause, which serves as the final instalment of the album's interconnected series of videos.

Delayed Reaction is Laur Elle's musical embodiment of a road trip, with each song representing a different step, and stop, along the way. “This album was born out of a state of chaos,” she reflects. “It’s a combination of heartaches, reflections, and making mistakes.”

From the title track lead single, through the nine songs that follow, there’s a consistent current of honesty and relatability through the wide-ranging indie pop project. Backseat Driving and Coach’s Daughter feature grounded folk-pop elements (with the latter also nodding to Laur Elle's athletic background), while the upbeat, Burning Out explodes in a hyperpop bridge hand-crafted for a contagiously cathartic live show environment. “Even when experimenting with other genres, the record still feels cohesive – it still feels like me,” Laur Elle confirms.

Recorded in Laur Elle's hometown of Edmonton with longtime producer, Father Bobby Townsend, there’s an intimate and friendly feel to Delayed Reaction that was born of the atmosphere where it was recorded: a living room strewn with instruments. “The album started at the beginning of the end,” she explains, aiming to create art that she herself wishes to see in the world. “It helped me get out of my own way.” Listeners will have the chance to hear Laur Elle dive more into Delayed Reaction through upcoming interviews on CBC's Q with Tom Power and Provincial Playlist (CBC Radio One Edmonton AM) - stay tuned!

In the months leading up to the album's release, Laur Elle took her listeners, and viewers, on a ride through the unveiling of singles,  Burning Out, The Man, Easy Way Out and The Morning Song, all of which were accompanied by cinematic, interconnected music videos. The final stop on the visual road trip now arrives today with Lost Cause - a bright and energetic pop hit in the making, with an equally fun and sprightly video. Watch here.

This is just the beginning for Laur Elle, always aiming to offer solace to listeners with her not-so-secret weapon — her pen. With more musical surprises on the horizon, and her first headlining tour slated for early 2024, Laur Elle ready to keep taking on the world!

MORE ABOUT LAUR ELLE:
As a singer-songwriter who has always been enamoured by the power of words, Laur Elle is a true, multi-talented self-starter through and through. After time spent as an internationally competitive gymnast representing her country abroad, and now splitting time between her hometown in Edmonton and Los Angeles, Laur Elle immersed herself in the creative community and has quickly proven that while poetry was her artistic starting point, music is truly her calling. Laur Elle’s music starts with her pen and her guitar. Her airy vocals, grounded lyrics, and lush sound create the perfect vehicle for escapism — a sound she calls perfect for running (or, more appropriately, driving) away from problems.
