BISHOP BRIGGS RELEASES HIGHLY ANTICIPATED NEW EP WHEN EVERYTHING WENT DARK TODAY

SHARES MUSIC VIDEO FOR NEW SINGLE REBORN

GEARING UP FOR DON’T LOOK DOWN
NORTH AMERICAN TOUR WITH MISTERWIVES

TORONTO SHOW SEPTEMBER 19

TORONTO, ON - June 23, 2023 - After building widespread anticipation, multi-platinum singer-songwriter, Bishop Briggs, presents her highly anticipated new EP, When Everything Went Dark – out now via Arista Records. Listen to the EP here.

About the EP, Bishop said, “When I was little, I would sleep with a night light that filled my bedroom with warmth as I drifted off to sleep. Something about the afterglow made me feel protected, as if someone was staying awake looking out for me. As I got older, I learned to truly rest you have to feel that safety deep in your body. As the leaves have changed colors several times over, I’ve had a lot of difficulty shutting my eyes despite feeling completely exhausted. The truth is When Everything Went Dark has been my solace as I try to process what’s happened in my life the past few years. It was and continues to be the little night light in the corner of my room begging me to be switched on because without its comfort I don’t know where I’d be today.”

She celebrates the release of the EP by uncovering the music video for the opener and new single, Reborn. On the track, synths reverberate through the cracks of guitar as Bishop holds her head up in the face of adversity. The hook resounds with a proclamation, “I have been reborn, I’m not myself, I’m better now. At the same time, the visual seamlessly translates this energy to the screen. Watch the Reborn music video here.

Elsewhere, tense guitar complements her breathless high register throughout Cherry On Top and on Bad, her sultry delivery bares down on the bass-boosted thump as she exudes confidence on the chorus.

When Everything Went Dark also boasts the single, Baggage, which earned widespread acclaim. Atwood Magazine hailed it as “an impassioned anthem of empowerment, emotional reckoning, and self-acceptance. V Magazine touted it on V’s New Music Roundup and proclaimed, Briggs’s shockingly powerful voice booms atop of a production that blends alternative and techno influences, reflective of the conflict inside of her own inner turmoil.”

Making headlines, Bishop also just emerged as the winner of the latest season of The Masked Singer. She left crowds in awe worldwide with one show stopping performance after another.

Plus, she recently announced her co-headline Don’t Look Down Tour with MisterWives this fall across North America. Tickets are available for purchase here. See full confirmed itinerary below.

In 2022, Bishop captivated the world with fan favourite, superhuman. Inspiring critical applause, Forbes lauded it as “brilliant” and proclaimed, “Like all great songs though, Briggs makes the tale universal.Prior, she dropped the emotionally charged one-two punch of High Water and Art of Survival. She enraptured viewers with a stirring rendition of High Water on CBS’ The Late Late Show with James Corden. Simultaneously, Revolution graced the tracklisting of the EA Games NHL 23 Soundtrack and video game, while the MLB chose to use Revolution prominently during the playoffs. She also contributed Lessons of the Fire' to the NETFLIX original series, Devil In Ohio, which dominated the platform at #1 in the US and cracked the Global Top 10 for two weeks at #2.

Now, Bishop Briggs’s light shines brighter than ever on When Everything Went Dark.

ABOUT BISHOP BRIGGS:
Bishop Briggs is known for emotional and cathartic songs that blur the boundaries between alternative, pop, and electronic. Born in London to Scottish parents, Bishop grew up in Japan and Hong Kong. Days after graduating high school, she moved to Los Angeles where, after years of performing at any venue that would have her, she was discovered in a small hole-in-the-wall by a former-A&R rep and the rest was history. The music of Bishop Briggs transcends the limitations of singular genres, blending folk, pop and electronic music into a wholly unique sound. Her debut track Wild Horses reached #1 on Spotify's US Viral Chart and #2 on Spotify’s Global Viral 50 charts, with airplay on Sirius XM’s Alt Nation, Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 Show and a prized spot in Acura’s 2016 TLX and ESPN’s NFL Playoffs ads. She followed up with the RIAA-certified platinum single, River, a searing and cathartic track that captured the attention of tastemakers and gatekeepers and rose to #3 on the Alternative chart with over 680 million global streams while Bishop’s videos have 524M overall views on YouTube and she has 1 million YouTube subscribers. After her critically acclaimed albums Church of Scars and Champion, headline tours, live performance slots opening for Coldplay, Kaleo, alt-J, and Bleachers, and with more music on the way, Bishop Briggs is set to have her most incredible year yet. It began with the double dose of emotion on the 2022 singles High Water and Art of Survival. She parlayed this energy into REVOLUTION, which graced the Soundtrack for NHL 23. Continuing a banner year, she also served up Lessons of the Fire as the lead track for the smash NETFLIX series Devil In Ohio. She capped off 2022 with the empowering superhuman, ushering in another era. During 2023, her confidence and charisma define the When Everything Went Dark EP introduced by the irresistible single, Baggage, and new single, Reborn. Infiltrating every corner of culture, she impressively won Season 9 of The Masked Singer as Medusa and will co-headline the Don’t Look Down Tour across North America with MisterWives in the fall. Once again, she holds nothing back, and the world is better for it.
