DEBUT ALBUM NOW SET TO BE RELEASED AUGUST 19

TORONTO, ON – JULY 13, 2022 – Today, family supergroup, A Family Curse, share the latest single, Shake & Shudder, from their self-titled debut album. A Family Curse – with critically acclaimed singer songwriter, Kandle, and her father, Neil Osborne (54.40 frontman), at the helm - is out August 19 and you can pre-order it here. Watch the lofi music video that Neil directed and edited for Shake & Shudder here and stream it here

On the new single, Kandle and Neil offer: “Shake N’ Shudder is an Americana groovy number about Baby K’s lover moving on and leaving her in the dust like a lonely withered cactus in the desert. Written on the fly via dad and daughter sending voice notes across the country and tracking DIY in the basement - It’s a Texas blues inspired shuffle with a little San Antonio slide guitar!”

Kandle further adds: "My director said to me the other day that Neil’s style of directing and editing (which is completely self taught) is basically what every young hipster is trying to achieve by going super weird and lofi and Neil somehow just creates it effortlessly without giving a damn about rules or trends.”

The A Family Curse collaboration began a few years ago when Neil and fellow songwriter, Danny Michel, recorded some instrumental jams together. But due to their busy schedules, the songs were left to collect dust until one lonely Christmas, Neil sent them to Kandle who then brought newfound inspiration with fresh new melody and lyrics. From there, Kandle and Neil decided to complete a whole DIY album where the two played and recorded everything at home.

“Shake n’ shudder
Is it a dance? Is it an emotion
Is it physical? Is it whimsical?
Yes, yes, yes, yes & yes.
Q: Why is love so is tough?
A: Because it makes you Shake n’ Shudder.
‘Mama says I’m fine I’m just low and feeling rough.’”
– Neil Osborne

Their live show dialogue and antics play out the millennial version of “A Father Knows Best” story that reveals their creative infection and family affection through stage antics and banter that's as hilarious as it is rock n roll - the perfect melting pot for desert rock earworms. Their first show ever was in June at Toronto’s infamous El Mocambo for Canadian Music Week and thereafter the group toured across Ontario for a slew of shows that included stops at Fenelon Falls’ Grove Theatre, Owen Sound’s Heartwood Hall and back in Toronto at The Dakota Tavern.

A Family Curse is often joined on stage by a support cast of various cousins, uncles and aunts of the Osborne clan which leads to their signature sound and performance… stay tuned for more from A Family Curse as their journey unfolds and gathers steam this summer!

About Kandle Osborne:
Kandle has established a strong independent career and has made her mark as a powerful songwriter as evidenced on her latest album, Set The Fire.
