TORONTO, ON – JUNE 1, 2022 – Today, A Family Curse, announce their self-titled debut album is set for release July 27 and share its first single, Cemetery Blues. Like their name suggests, this is a family affair - the superstar family band comes from a rock collaboration between daughter and father, Kandle and Neil Osborne (54-40). Watch the video for Cemetery Blues here and listen to the track here. In addition to the single today, the band also announces a string of Canadian dates, kicking off June 10 in Toronto, with more coming soon. See below for more details.

The A Family Curse collaboration began a few years ago when Neil and fellow songwriter, Danny Michel, recorded some instrumental jams together. But due to their busy schedules, the songs were left to collect dust until one lonely Christmas, Neil sent them to Kandle who then brought newfound inspiration with fresh new melody and lyrics. From there, Kandle and Neil decided to complete a whole DIY album where the two played and recorded everything at home.

“I gave Kiz (Kandle) a nice chord progression with just three major chords. Just three. C, G and F,” explains Neil on Cemetery Blues. “Cousin Danny (Michel) and I whipped up a drum - bass - piano and guitar track. I told Kiz – ‘now sing something nice, you know, happy like’ - and she comes up with Cemetery Blues.”

On their overall sound, Kandle describes: "Diving into a fantasy world of Americana and fuzz driven blues rock, this father daughter duo take you on a journey from robbing banks to getting stranded in the desert and catching fire!"

Their live show dialogue and antics play out the millennial version of “A Father Knows Best” story that reveals their creative infection and family affection. A Family Curse is often joined on stage by a support cast of various cousins, uncles and aunts of the Osborne clan which leads to their A Family Curse recipe…
“A family band - a renegade folk/blues outfit. Take some Staple Singers, add a little Carpenters or Partridge Family. Sprinkle in a dash of Smothers Brothers or Sonny & Cher. Throw in some desert sand, blessings and curses and some slide guitar. Ready to serve.”
