Directed by Renata Raksha (Purity Ring, Brooke Candy), the ethereal clip for Why The Bright Stars Glow embodies a dreamer’s aura as Valerie’s shimmering figure cuts against a night sky. Produced by Jack Splash (Kendrick Lamar, Alicia Keys, John Legend) and Valerie June, The Moon & Stars: Prescriptions For Dreamers, June’s first new album since 2017’s acclaimed The Order of Time, is already garnering praise around the world.
In their glowing and expansive ‘album of the month’ review UNCUT proclaimed, “The Moon and Stars: Prescriptions For Dreamers is a psychedelic tour de force that mixes folk, soul and spiritual Van-style hymns into a delirious, unique whole.” They go on to add, “Make no mistake, these songs are beguiling, comely, sweet; but beneath their resonant beauty, June has given us an album that is powerfully, elegantly subversive.” Rolling Stone affirmed, “If early previews are any indication, June’s next record should be a career-making statement."
