NEW ALBUM COMING IN 2020
Toronto, ON – July 26, 2019 – Vancouver alt-rock outfit, Tourist Company, have been sharing pieces of their upcoming sophomore album, leading off with the earworm track, Conflicted/Restricted, which dropped earlier this year. Today, they follow up with their new single, Fractured State – an emotive and anthemic song that was partially inspired by the riots in Charlottesville, VA in 2017. “I remember watching news footage and feeling lost at the state of humanity,” reflects vocalist/guitarist, Taylor Swindells. “In that moment, the world felt broken. There were so many lines of tension running through the plot points of current events, and the present seemed to be predictably spiraling out of control. Essentially the song is about that emotional tension and the pressures of living in a world that feels like it’s falling apart.”
The duo is also thrilled to share that they have found a new label home with Fierce Panda Canada. “We couldn’t be more excited about this new relationship with Fierce Panda,” they exclaim. “From the onset, we’ve shared the same vision and excitement for our new music, and they’ve been supportive of promoting us as what and who we are, not wanting us to be something we’re not. It’s amazing to have a team that is excited for what you’ve already built and is ready to help bring this next chapter in the band’s history to life.”
Tourist Company released their debut album, Apollo, to critical acclaim in 2016 and toured the release relentlessly across their home country and internationally. The duo – comprised of singer-songwriter/multi-instrumentalist, Swindells, and drummer, Brenon Perry – have steadily built a musical reputation that is impressing critics and winning fans worldwide. With a sound that seamlessly blends the electronic and the organic, they have carved out a sound that is defiantly all their own; with orchestral elements that swell into a sea of synths, propelled along by rhythms that combine experimental with progressive.
