NEW SINGLE SHAKIN’ OFF THE RUST HITS #1 AT ACTIVE ROCK IN CANADA

DUO SELL OUT FIRST EVER TORONTO HEADLINING SHOW AT THE LEGENDARY HORSESHOE TAVERN

ON TOUR NOW THROUGHOUT NORTH AMERICA

Toronto, ON – February 4, 2020 – Canadian rock duo, The Blue Stones, have had a momentous start to 2020! Last week, the band received their first JUNO nomination for Breakthrough Group of the Year, quickly followed by the news that their lead single, Shakin’ Off The Rust, has hit #1 at Active Rock in Canada, after climbing the charts for 13 consecutive weeks. The track comes from the band’s anticipated new album, coming later this year.

"All of us at eOne are so thrilled about The Blue Stones’ well-deserved Juno nomination,” says eOne’s Scott Givens, SVP, Rock & Metal, Music. “The band makes amazing music and seeing them rise into the top of the Canadian Active Rock chart whilst selling out shows in the US, UK and Canada is a testament to what the future holds.”

The Blue Stones reflect: “We’re stoked to see that after a long time and a lot of hard work, things are coming together and taking off all at once. We can’t wait to share what else we have in store for 2020.”

In addition to these exciting milestones, the band kicked off their North American Hidden Gems Tour in late January, playing across Ontario, selling out all six shows in Kingston, London, St. Catharines, Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa. The Blue Stones are now making their way to the United States to play 14 shows across eight states during February, before heading home to close out the tour in western Canada throughout March. See below for full tour details.

When Tarek Jafar and Justin Tessier formed The Blue Stones, they were facing uncertainty about who they were individually. What they did know for sure, though, was that they wanted to make music together - and, so they did. Following the success of their debut album, Black Holes, the band quickly found a following in the alternative rock world that lead to them sharing the stage with the likes of grandson, Welshly Arms, and Reignwolf. As they began working on new music, The Blue Stones caught the attention of producer, Paul Meany (Mutemath, Twenty One Pilots), with whom they would eventually enter the studio with this past summer. Working with Meany lead to The Blue Stones exploring – and creating – music in a different way than they had before, and led to a new approach by Jafar when it came to tackling lyrics. The result was the band truly discovering who they were during the writing process. They’ve crafted something that shimmers with such purity and truth – musically and lyrically – that one can’t help but be swept up and carried off by the songs that will eventually form their as-yet-untitled sophomore album slated for release on Entertainment One next year. The duo may be redefining who they are, but their decision to pursue the rock’n’roll dream holds as strong as ever as they enter the next stage of their journey.

These accomplishments will be the first of many great things to come from The Blue Stones in 2020. Stay tuned for more news from the band coming soon!
