SWITCHFOOT SHARES NEW VERSION OF NATIVE TONGUE ALBUM TRACK JOY INVINCIBLE FEATURING VOCALIST JENN JOHNSON

Toronto, ON – April 17, 2020 – Today, GRAMMY® Award-winning rock band, Switchfoot, released a new version of their song, Joy Invincible, featuring prominent Christian songwriter and vocalist, Jenn Johnson. In these unprecedented times the track’s uplifting lyrics and powerful production inspire all of us to look for moments of joy in our own lives. Joy Invincible originally appeared on Switchfoot’s latest full length album, Native Tongue, which debuted at #2 on Billboard’s Rock Albums chart upon its release last year.
Switchfoot front man Jon Foreman on the song and collaboration: “Joy Invincible is a song about a joy that transcends pain. It was written as a response to one of the most difficult seasons of my life – praying for a family member from a hospital waiting room. Sometimes a song gains meaning as time progresses. This song means even more to me now, in this season of emergency. Having Jenn join us to sing this song feels appropriate: two very different voices from two very different backgrounds singing one song in harmony. I hope that this song can bring peace, hope, and even joy in this season of pain.”

Most recently, Jon has been sharing daily #LiveFromHome acoustic performance videos ranging from covers to deep cuts from the band’s impressive catalogue via their socials and YouTube channel. You can watch these videos here.

In addition to headlining and festival dates this summer Switchfoot recently announced they would be joining Nickelback with special guests Stone Temple Pilots for select dates of their All The Right Reasons 2020 North American tour. These shows kick off on August 15 in West Palm Beach, Florida and will visit amphitheaters and arenas across the U.S. ending in the band’s home state of California – full routing is below. Switchfoot has been unearthing all manner of musical gems since their 1997 debut The Legend of Chin, steadily expanding their global fan base and critical reputation through such releases as New Way to Be Human (1999), Learning to Breathe (2000), the multi-platinum breakthrough The Beautiful Letdown (2003), Nothing Is Sound (2005), Oh! Gravity (2006), the Grammy award-winning Hello Hurricane (2009), Vice Verses (2011), Fading West (2014) and Where The Light Shines Through (2016). Fading West doubled as the soundtrack to the band's documentary of the same name. Along the way, Switchfoot established itself as a world-class live act with a series of sold-out world tours, while racking up a string of radio hits, including Meant to LiveDare You to MoveStars and Mess of Me. Beyond their career achievements, Switchfoot has been active in a variety of philanthropic efforts, raising over two million dollars to aid kids in their community through the band’s own Bro-Am foundation and their annual Bro-Am Beach Fest, a benefit surf contest and concert that’s held every summer in Encinitas, CA. They've also maintained a deep commitment to a variety of humanitarian causes, lending their support to such worthy organizations as DATA, the ONE Campaign, Habitat for Humanity, Invisible Children, Food for the Hungry, CURE and To Write Love on Her Arms. Switchfoot 's 11th full-length album Native Tongue is available now.
