“a ferocious howl of an album that captures the tension just as the fear of internal collapse gives way to newfound strength. These songs are damp with derision, regret and desire, but never uncertainty.” - The New York Times, Jon Caramanica’s #1 Best Album of 2018

“[Clean] is one of 2018’s most affecting portraits of romance...Clean faces a horizon full of hope.” - Pitchfork’s #27 Best Album of 2018

“The moods are big and the tunes are bigger on Nashville indie queen Sophie Allison’s debut LP, the year’s most satisfying level-up.” - Rolling Stone’s #16 Best Album of 2018

“On her debut album Clean, Allison breaks out of the bedroom-rock mold and turns her introspection outwards to confront the shortcomings of idealized relationships with an unflinching confidence...a captivating listen.” - Billboard’s #9 Best Rock Album of 2018 + #40 Best Album of 2018

“Soccer Mommy writes about heartache and infatuation with equal parts brash confidence and self-conscious yearning. [‘Your Dog’] is a perfect distillation of these impulses — a reflection on and middle finger to being mistreated and underestimated.” - NPR Music’s #5 Best Song of 2018

“[Clean] is as openhearted as teen-age love letters, with Allison’s gentle guitar work buoying her tender, chamomile-warm vocals. Her writing is equally vulnerable, and brave” - The New Yorker

Toronto, ON – September 19, 2019 – Nashville native, Sophie Allison, released her breakout debut album, Clean, as Soccer Mommy last year, earning mass critical acclaim and year-end nods from 100+ publications, including The New York Times’ #1 Album of 2018. Sophie Allison on the new song, “lucy is a really fun song for me because it has a dark, evil vibe. It’s a song about struggling with inner demons and your own morality, but I masked it with this scenario of being seduced by the devil. I’m really excited to share this with everyone because I think it shows a different side of my writing.”
