Toronto, ON – April 4, 2019 – Snotty Nose Rez Kids are set to release their new full-length album, Trapline, on May 10th, and have shared the lead single, Creator Made An Animal. The song earned praise from The FADER for its “energetic defiance that we urgently need”, and now the group is pleased to release a new version of the track, remixed by powerhouse artist/producer, TAABU. The remix will drop tomorrow (Friday, April 5) on all streaming platforms.

“Creator Made An Animal inspired me with its lyrical content, vocal performance and production style,” says TAABU. “I wanted to take that inspiration and intensely magnify the message and energy of the original. The lyrics give the listener an enlightening perspective. I wanted to amplify the significance of that perspective through the remix.

“Creator Made An Animal is our way of paying homage to the place that we call home as our spirits awaken and our people rise up,” Snotty Nose Rez Kids comment. “Creator Made An Animal carries an aggressive and assertive energy that imitates the way society portrays Indigenous people and People of Colour across Turtle Island. Our ancestors were stereotyped as savages, and we are often regarded as the pissed-off generation who haven’t gotten over what colonization has done to our lands and to our people. Through stylish delivery, we proclaim ourselves as the Father 7th Generation and let the world know that we aren’t changing for anyone. The future is ours. We are powerful as human beings and it’s integral that we respect the knowledge that was passed down from our ancestors. Many of us also carry their pain, but every single one of us carry their power. Embrace that power, stay true to that power and to yourself!”

Trapline brings about a refreshing energy and new sound for the group, while continuing to display their blend of trap beats with woven lyricism that challenge Indigenous stereotypes, and assert their place in the hip-hop landscape. Coinciding with the release, SNRK will embark on the Trapline Tour Pt. 1, which kicks off in May, and includes debut performances in Europe, along with Canadian dates from coast to coast. ABOUT SNOTTY NOSE REZ KIDS:
Snotty Nose Rez Kids are the combined talents of Yung Trybez and Young D, hailing from the Haisla Nation, ‘The People of the Snow.” Their music is best described as thought-provoking club bangers, and their live shows prove it – audiences will dance and sweat, but they’ll leave with new knowledge.

Formed by Trybez and D in 2016, Snotty Nose Rez Kids was born out of a life-long friendship between the two emcees, growing up together, and deciding on music as their outlet for expression. SNRK dropped two albums in 2017: their debut self-titled LP, and The Average Savage, just nine months later. Snotty Nose Rez Kids set the stage for establishing the duo as hard-hitting lyricists tackling rich subject matter. Garnering fans from all over, SNRK began touring and proving they were not only talented musicians, but true entertainers, with their energy-filled performances creating a quick demand for them in B.C.

Their follow-up, The Average Savage, took them to new lengths. In 2018, they toured Canada, the U.S. and Australia in support of the album, while their single, Savages, spent over 20 weeks on the Indigenous Music Countdown. The album landed them a nomination for Best Hip Hop Album at the Indigenous Music Awards, a win for Best Hip Hop Artist at the Western Canadian Music Awards, a place on the Short List for the Polaris Music Prize, and a JUNO nomination for Indigenous Music Album of the Year.

ABOUT TAABU:
Taabu, born Spencer Heaslip, is a 24-year-old powerhouse, whose diverse skills make this artist/producer, songwriter, engineer and drummer, a diverse asset to all styles, genres and angles of music. In Bu’s hometown of Hamilton, Ontario, Avalon Music Academy marks the early phase of his career. He underwent drum lessons from the age of 5 through 12.

His adolescent years consisted of performing and recording, drum doubling in a Canadian Film Festival piece at the age of 11, and receiving nominations at 14 for the 2008 Hamilton Music Awards for “Drummer of the Year” and “Metal Recording of the Year.” Taabu’s versatile passion flourished from self-taught Metal-core basement recordings, into EDM focused production at age 17. Bu’s growth was followed by the admittance into Music Industry Arts at Fanshawe College. He was a sought after session drummer and performer for the duration of the two year diploma course. EDM, Trap, Dance, Rock and Metal are styles that Taabu felt comfortably creative with upon graduation; this reflects in his more recent work as a drummer, producer, writer and engineer. Currently,

Taabu is actively performing with Pop/Rock band TWNRVA, freelancing as a drummer (live and studio) and is endorsed by Murat Diril Cymbals. From contract production for the Juno recognized Sundown Sessions, to collaborations with Tim 2oolman (A Tribe Called Red), Ragga Twins, Haviah Mighty, and Juno Nominated Snotty Nose Rez Kids, Bu’s caffeine addiction doesn’t seem to be slowing his artistic nature. Among the experience of opening for acts like Jazz Cartier, Shawn Hook, Down With Webster and playing alongside Isam B (Outlandish), Taabu is surely leaving his artistic vision and sonic fingerprint on the Canadian music industry.
