SKEGSS RELEASE NEW ALBUM REHEARSAL VIA LOMA VISTA RECORDINGS

SHARE VIDEO FOR NEW SINGLE BUSH TV

Toronto, ON – March 26, 2021 – Rising rock trio, Skegss – Ben Reed (vocals, guitar), Toby Cregan (bass, guitar, vocals), and Jonny Lani (drums) – shared their punchy and potent new single, Bush TV, alongside its Super 8-shot, Jamieson Kerr-directed video earlier this week; watch it here. The freewheeling clip for the final single from their new album, Rehearsal, out today via Loma Vista Recordings, finds Skegss enjoying the great Australian countryside, from riding dirt bikes on Lani’s farm and hanging with Cregan’s dog Blaze, to swimming, barbecuing, and drinking beers by the fire pit. “The video was a lot of fun to make. The motorbike shots were pretty wild. I was in the back of a Ute hanging off the end with my camera whilst we were pinning it around bends and bumps. At one point I got some air which was pretty scary,” says director Kerr of the making of. Rehearsal is available on DSPs here.

After playing a Melbourne show last month to 2,500 attendees, Skegss also announced more of their first live shows in nearly a year to celebrate the album’s release: at Melbourne’s 170 Russell on March 28, Sydney’s Factory Theatre on March 30, and Brisbane’s Felons Barrel Hall on April 1.

While Bush TV is tinged with a feeling of bittersweet nostalgia, it also showcases the youthful intensity for which Skegss is known, and its video is a peek into the fun loving attitude that also permeates Rehearsal’s 13-track thrill ride. From the playful romp of single, Valhalla and the intoxicating narrative of Running from Nothing, to the staggering beauty of Reed’s acoustic ballad, Wake Up, Rehearsal encapsulates Skegss’ sound: nostalgic riffs, tight hooks, and masterful storytelling. Bush TV follows previous singles Under the Thunder, Fantasising, Wake Up, and Valhalla, which collectively earned early praise and support from NME, Consequence of Sound, DIY, Rolling Stone Australia ('Song You Need to Know'), and more.

Featuring trippy cover artwork by cult Aussie outsider and frequent Skegss collaborator, Jack Irvine (who has also worked with Billie Eilish and Troye Sivan), Rehearsal illustrates an evolution of Skegss’ songwriting while remaining grounded in their grungy sound that’s become so beloved. The album was recorded at The Grove Studios with producer, Catherine Marks, who added a veteran's finesse and expanded upon the rustic charm of demos the band tracked at The Music Farm using vintage gear from the 60s and 70s. Rehearsal is the most electrifying snapshot we've seen of Skegss yet, and is the trio’s first full-length for Loma Vista Recordings following their rapid ascent with just a few self-released singles/EPs (now certified Platinum in Australia, and with LSD surpassing 25 million streams on Spotify), and their 2018 debut LP My Own Mess (which peaked at #2 on Australia’s ARIA album chart and earned an ARIA Award nomination for ‘Best Rock Album’).
