Toronto, ON – April 27, 2018 – Royce 5’9” releases the full twenty song track list for Book of Ryan, due out on May 4, 2018 (Entertainment One/Heaven Studios, Inc.). Pre-orders for Book of Ryan are available now with the gratis songs, Dumb, and, Stay Woke.

Complex.com shared the cover art and track listing last week, and Royce released the single, Dumb featuring Boogie, on Friday. On Boblo Boat, Royce warmly looks back at his childhood growing up in the D, a proud, blue collar city that has not always received the most positive of accolades. Royce transports listeners back to a time in the ‘80s when families could take a boat ride to Boblo Island and forget, for just a few hours, the stinging realities of life for black folks in Ronald Reagan’s greed-is-good America. “The song came together super organically,” he says of the heartfelt Boblo Boat. “There was a boat back in the days that took people across the Detroit River to these little obscure islands. One of the islands, Boblo, housed a poor man’s amusement park where a lot of young black kids would go. It was the best shit ever. We didn’t realize it was a cheaper option looking back at it in retrospect. We were too busy having fun.”

Book of Ryan is the seventh solo studio project from the grinding rhyme visionary born Ryan Montgomery, and is a work that defies well-worn, grizzled veteran rap clichés. Royce wrote more than 60 songs for the album. For Royce, it’s all about the journey. “I just want the fans to hear my evolution as an artist as well as me as a man and learn from my mistakes,” he says. “I think they got a little bit of that with Layers, but Book of Ryan is me letting it all out.”

Ambrosia for Heads states: “Though he has been one of the most consistently excellent MCs in Hip-Hop..., it is only in the last few years that Royce 5’9 has started getting his proper recognition as an elite lyricist."

Royce’s current video for Boblo Boat, featuring J. Cole from Book of Ryan has seen close to 8 Million Views.  

No other rapper from Detroit has been as prolific as Royce when it comes to releasing music. In addition to his solo releases, over the span of his career, Royce has collaborated with long-time friend, Eminem, as a member of Bad Meets Evil on the release of Hell: The Sequel, released two albums as a member of the lyrical assassins known as Slaughterhouse (with Joe Budden, King Crooked, and Joell Ortiz) and two releases with the lauded producer and DJ, DJ Premier as a member of PRhyme. Their latest release of PRhyme 2 was released to critical acclaim with the two head out on tour starting May 5, 2018.
