AND WATCH THE POWERFUL VIDEO

NEW ALBUM TO BE RELEASED LATER THIS YEAR

Toronto, ON – January 17, 2020 – Today, award-winning singer-songwriter, Rachel Beck, shares the first taste of new music from her forthcoming sophomore album, which will be released later this year. Lead single, Warrior, is Rachel’s first new release since her 2018 self-titled debut solo album, which earned her two 2019 Music PEI Awards for Pop Recording of the Year and New Artist of the Year, as well as two 2019 ECMA nominations for pop Recording of the Year and Rising Star Recording of the Year. The powerful and emotive song celebrates strength and beauty – an anthem for the fierce, the fearless, the feminine. Have a listen here and watch the beautiful music video here.

“Warrior is most directly inspired by my four-year-old daughter, Nora,” reflects Rachel. “…imagining the kind of woman she will grow up to be. It is also influenced by badass women throughout history – the ground-breakers and the change-makers. Amelia. Greta. Rosa. Malala.”

Rachel took on co-directing duties for the accompanying visual, alongside critically-acclaimed filmmaker and climate action warrior, Mille Clarkes.

“It was a privilege to co-direct this video with Mille,” Rachel continues. “We assembled a team of local creatives and friends (80% female-identifying, in fact) and set about capturing the essence of Warrior: strength, beauty, empowerment. What makes this video extra special for me is that the inspiration behind the song, my daughter, Nora, dances during the intro sequence. It meant everything to have her there on set with me.”

Tune in to Facebook Live today at 6:00pm AST to watch Rachel and Nora discuss what they feel it means to be a warrior.

Glowing with catchy pop hooks, Rachel’s distinctive piano melodies and emotive vocals have been captivating audiences across Canada. Her sophomore album, Stronger Than You Know, is set for release later this year and follows her self-titled debut, which garnered multiple award nominations and wins, including a SOCAN #1 Award for single, Reckless Heart (#1 on the CBC Music Top 20 Chart in March 2018). Tour highlights include performing for Their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall, appearing twice at the legendary Stan Rogers Folk Festival, opening the 2019 ECMA Gala Awards Show, and playing beautiful festivals and stages from the Rogue Folk Club in Vancouver, BC to the Imperial Theatre in Saint John, NB.

Stay tuned for more news and music to come from Rachel Beck this year!
