RACHEL BECK ANNOUNCES 2019 EASTERN CANADA TOUR DATES

SHARES GORGEOUS RENDITION OF
I WANNA DANCE WITH SOMEBODY

TAKES HOME TWO MUSIC PEI AWARDS
AND EARNS TWO ECMA NOMINATIONS

“…even in heartbreak, Beck’s voice is strong, reassuring. It’s what ties together her piano-pop melodies, a call in the dark that provides a safe place to land.”  – CBC Music

Toronto, ON – February 4, 2019 – Singer-songwriter, Rachel Beck, has kicked off 2019 with a bang, taking home two 2019 Music PEI Awards and celebrating two 2019 ECMA nominations. Now, she is keeping the momentum going by sharing a stunning reinterpretation of the Whitney Houston classic, I Wanna Dance With Somebody, and announcing a string of tour dates that will take her across eastern Canada in February and March. Details can be found below, with tickets on sale now.

“One day, this song danced across the airwaves as I was cooking supper,” Beck recalls of I Wanna Dance With Somebody. “I had heard it a hundred times before, but I had never really paid attention to the lyrics. Suddenly, I was struck by the emotion of it. There is so much melancholy and longing hidden behind those catchy pop beats.”

The release of the cover follows Rachel’s first solo venture – her self-titled album, released last March, earning her two 2019 Music PEI Awards for Pop Recording of the Year and New Artist of the Year, and two 2019 ECMA nominations for Pop Recording of the Year and the Rising Star Recording of the Year. The album’s lead single, Reckless Heart, spent seven weeks on the CBC Music Top 20, peaking at #1. Produced and recorded by Daniel Ledwell at Echo Lake (Jenn Grant, David Myles, Fortunate Ones), the album features additional percussion work and vocal harmonies by Amy Beck – Rachel’s sister, with whom Rachel spent four years recording and touring as The Beck Sisters (2013 CBC Searchlight finalists).

Rachel’s hook-driven, emotive piano pop melodies captivate. And whether you see her live, hear her on the radio, or press play on one of her songs, the experience is just as impactful: you are not only brought under her vocal spell, but are an instant fan.

“Here's the voice we need on those days when nothing's right and everything sucks and people are lousy.  Rachel Beck's compassion and heart shine through each song, a little musical healing for us all.  Gentle, made mostly from piano, strings and voice, the power's in the humanity and understanding she puts in her songs.”  – Bob Mersereau, Top 100 Canadian
