Toronto, ON – March 31, 2021 – Today Alt/Soul songstress, Nuela Charles, announces her new latest music offering, Blissful Madness, which will be released in full on April 30. Nuela recently shared her first single of 2021, Space, which will appear on Blissful Madness with two other original tracks and has already been added to multiple editorial playlists on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music and YouTube. The EP was produced by multi-platinum/diamond record producer, Don Mills (Giveon, Snoh Allegra, Juice WRLD), and completed by JUNO award nominated, producer/mixer, Ryan Worsley (Dear Rouge, MONOWHALES). Accompanying her new single, Nuela releases the official video for Space which she directed, shot, edited and produced in her home. The video features her in a series of hypnotic shots – primarily shown in red and blue lighting with special effects keeping a viewer’s eyes glued to her – watch the full video here.

“Blissful Madness is a musical snapshot that was started before the pandemic, but was finished, thankfully, well into the lock down,” shares Nuela. “I wanted to tell the story of all of the emotions one can feel in 24 hrs. Whether it be, sassy and strong, to loving and endearing, or don’t try me, testy vibes – it’s all the feels wrapped up in 3 songs. This EP is more soulful sonically and allowed me to experiment vocally as I discovered new textures and tones in my voice.”

Blissful Madness showcases a new side of Nuela’s layered talents as a musical artist. Her newest single Space is a prime example of her ability to combine soul, pop and alternative sounds. “Space has kind of turned into what I wish I would’ve said – my alter ego so to speak – that sassy voice that won’t take no for an answer,” says Nuela. “Space is an honest knee-jerk reaction to being told that the solution to your relationship problem might be to take a step back and give each other some space, but everything in your soul is telling you – nahhhh, I’ll do anything but that, ‘cause that ain’t it.”

When executing the video for Space, Nuela dove into new territory creatively and was able to challenge her artistic abilities in more ways than one:

“Making this video was a very creative process for me. It allowed me to be creative and challenge myself with the technical aspects of it,” says Nuela. “It took a few weeks of research, trying to figure out how I would be able to create something using a minimal amount of gear, but that would also create something that didn’t look like it was made in my apartment. I shot this video on my iPhone 12 Pro Max, utilizing a Moment lens. After weeks of trying to figure out lighting, I found the small Aperture MC RGB light. It could fit in your pocket, but also has built in effects, which is what I utilized to give it a cinematic look. Add a projector to the mix for the background, and a few barrel roll shots, and you got yourself a music video.”
