Toronto, ON – April 27, 2018 – Nicky Jam, a pioneer of the Urban Latin movement and a globally recognized music icon, is today releasing a special Spanglish version of his hit, X, featuring Colombian singer, J Balvin.

The original of X already sits as one of 2018’s most lauded and universally adored anthems - boasting over 600m YouTube views, sitting at #1 in 10 countries on Apple Music, at #1 on the Top 100 Global Shazam charts and even reaching #9 on Spotify’s Global Top 50 chart.

It’s also responsible for an international viral campaign named the X Challenge, with millions of people (including celebrities such as Will Smith) getting involved in the trend to reenact the choreographed dance featured in the music video.

Also featured is Colombian musician, J Balvin, who recently collaborated with Liam Payne for Familiar, and joined Beyoncé on stage at Coachella to perform their track, Mi Gente.

Nicky Jam’s rise and fall story is the story of his genre itself: great fame, hard times and artistic rebirth. As one of the founders of the Urban Latin movement, Nicky Jam began recording music at the age of 11. As a young adult, he quickly rose to the top of his genre creating some of the biggest hits of the early urban movement in the 90s. Just as he was starting to enjoy his hard-earned accomplishments, his life took a 180-degree turn and he decided to move to Colombia to rebuild his career.

After being out of the limelight for 10 years, he released his album, Fenix, in 2017, now certified Diamond in the U.S. by the RIAA. It contains the biggest singles of his career, which are all Multi-Platinum certified: El Amante (13x Platinum), El Perdón (27x Platinum), and Hasta El Amanecer (22x Platinum).

Following the recent success from single, X, Nicky has now turned his focus to the UK. He will soon be releasing his next album in addition to a bio-series based on his life titled El Ganador. The scripted drama will stream on Netflix everywhere except the U.S., following its premiere this summer on Telemundo.

About Nicky Jam
Nick Rivera Caminero, known as Nicky Jam, is recognized around the world as a pioneer of Latin urban music. Born in 1981 in Boston, as a boy he moved with his family to Puerto Rico. At the age of 11, he recorded his first album Diferente a Los Demás (Different From the Rest), which attracted the attention of DJs and artists on the island. He notched five radio hits: Piensas en Mí (You Think About Me), Curiosidad (Curiosity), Juegos Prohibidos(Forbidden Games), Voy a Beber (I'm Going to Drink), and the global hit, Travesuras(Mischief). Travesuras was Nicky’s international comeback hit after a 10-year absence from the charts. It peaked at #4 on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs. His social-media following grew 3,000 percent by late 2014, making him one of the genre's most talked-about and respected artists.

In February 2015, Nicky Jam teamed up with Enrique Iglesias to release El Perdón (Forgiveness), his most internationally acclaimed single to date. Tallying over 1 million YouTube views on the day of its release, El Perdón was #1 on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs charts for 30 weeks (second longest-running single in the chart’s history). In January 2016, Nicky released Hasta el Amanecer, which also became the biggest Latin song of the year. The single was #1 on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs for 18 weeks, which was the longest run of 2016. The official music video reached 100 million views in the first month, averaging over 3 million views per day.  In fact, the top Hot Latin Songs Track of 2016 belongs to Nicky Jam’s Hasta El Amanecer. It also scored the No. 1 year-end spot on the Latin Airplay, Latin Pop Airplay, Latin Rhythm Airplay, Latin Rhythm Digital Song Sales, and Latin Digital Song Sales charts. 2017 became another remarkable year for Nicky with the release of his single, El Amante (The Lover), his first album in 10 years titled Fénix, and his big-screen debut on Vin Diesel’s film XXX: Return of Xander Cage.
