Toronto, ON – August 23, 2019 – Alternative songsmith, Mondo Cozmo (aka Josh Ostrander), has signed a global deal with indie label, Last Gang Records, and releases the first single, Black Cadillac, from his forthcoming album, today. Watch the video for the song here.

Chris Moncada, eOne’s SVP of Alternative Music and GM of Last Gang Records, says, “We are thrilled to have Mondo Cozmo join the eOne / Last Gang family.  Josh is a profound, dynamic artist and Black Cadillac is the first of many new songs that the world needs to hear right now. We are proud to be his partner to get them out into the world!”

Black Cadillac, is a revved-up snarling rock track which escalates into a joyous anthem, upheld with handclaps and a gospel choir.  Mixed by Spike Stent (Radiohead, Florence and the Machine, Ed Sheeran) and produced by Lars Stalfors (Cold War Kids, Foster The People, St. Vincent), the song also features Leah and Peter of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club on drums and guitars. The band backup vocals were recorded in a dressing room in Indiana, while the gospel choir was added in Los Angeles.

Mondo says, “The lyrics of Black Cadillac were written on tour while the Kavanaugh hearings were being televised. We would watch the hearings in the van on my phone. This was right after I was asked to go speak to Congress on behalf of the MMA legislation which ended in a lunch in the Kennedy Room of the Capitol where there was a small sugar spoon at the table that I wanted to steal.”

Aided and abetted by friends and family, including producer Butch Vig, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Dan Wilson, Lars Stalfors and others, Mondo Cozmo is working on his sophomore album, due out next year.

Mondo Cozmo’s 2017 full-length debut, Plastic Soul, boasted the #1 single, Shine. In addition to performing everywhere from Lollapalooza to Bonnaroo, toured alongside Bastille and Spoon, and opened for Muse. Dan Reynolds of Imagine Dragons joined him for a live duet on The Verve’s Bittersweet Symphony, while Anna Faris starred in the video for Hold On To Me and Paz de La Huerta starred in the video, Higher.
