MIPSO RELEASES DELUXE DIGITAL EDITION OF EPONYMOUS ALBUM

EXPANDED EDITION FEATURES THREE BONUS TRACKS

ON TOUR NOW

October 29, 2021 – Today, North Carolina-based indie quartet, Mipso, released a deluxe digital edition of their acclaimed self-titled album. The expanded edition includes three bonus tracks that have been released as singles over the past few months: Big Star (Alt), Name is How You Call Me, and Every Drop

Released in October 2020, Mipso is the group's most communally realized work to date and is widely regarded as the strongest artistic statement of their career thus far.  Mipso's members -- Wood Robinson, Libby Rodenbough, Jacob Sharp, and Joseph Terrell, each a songwriter and lead singer in the band -- collaborated closely with producer, Sandro Perri, toward the goal of shaping a sonic landscape that is expansive and atmospheric yet also personal -- "like an intimate voiceover to a dream sequence," as Terrell put it.

Upon its release, the album inspired a good deal of critical praise. NPR Music’s Ann Powers noted, "they're really going beyond the frame of any genre on this record," while All Songs Considered’s co-host Robin Hilton singled out the band's "perfect harmonies," and said the album felt like "an instruction manual for how to be happy." He concluded his remarks by saying, "It just felt good listening to this one."

American Songwriter’s Madeline Crone wrote, “Every band member is a master of their own songwriting craft, delivering differing lyrical approaches that expand their artistry’s previous bounds.” The Bluegrass Situation’s Z. Lupetin concurs. “It’s hard to find a group where every member can effortlessly sing lead and write genre-bending songs that fit seamlessly on six acclaimed albums — and counting — in under ten years.”

Indy Week’s Spencer Griffith pronounced the LP "Mipso's richest album yet," while PopMatters' Michael Bialas declared, "Mipso seems like a band that will never run out of ideas.”

And as Andy Crump observed in Paste, "Prevailing warmth defines Mipso's sound, the kind felt on a bright North Carolina day, but the songs themselves follow their own directions: Gentle strums on love tunes, big uplifting choruses on countrified numbers, plucking strings on upbeat bluegrass songs. Mipso's creativity...is on full display here."

Mipso’s tour of the United States, which kicked off in June, will continue through January 2021 and will include four dates in their home state of North Carolina as well as stops in New York City, Philadelphia, Washington, DC, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Denver. The band’s European dates, originally slated for November, will be rescheduled in the coming months. A full list of confirmed dates is below.
