Praise for Lou Phelps:

"Montreal MC Lou Phelps's ‘What Time Is It?!’ is an irresistible jam — the kind of song that demands a two-step." - The FADER

"The Canadian rapper is representing where he's from hard on the new project, which was exclusively produced by his Polaris prize-winning older brother Kaytranada." - XXL

"A handful of singles then followed under his Lou Phelps moniker before last year's standout debut, 001: Experiments, which fused the electronic experimentation of the artist glimpsed on Cause I Wanna with deeper influence from Madvillain, Slum Village, Jay Z, and Erik B & Rakim." XLR8R

Toronto, ON — September 21, 2018 — Montreal rapper, Lou Phelps, shares his sophomore album, 002 / LOVE ME, today via Last Gang Records. 002 / LOVE ME sees Lou’s older brother, Kevin, aka the Polaris Prize-winning KAYTRANADA, as executive producer, with guest spots from BADBADNOTGOOD, JAHKOY, Planet Giza, Pony and drum master, Karriem Riggins. Stream and purchase the album here. Lou will deliver the new music live on stages across Canada through a fall tour, with stops in Vancouver, Calgary, Ottawa, Montreal, and Toronto. See below for a complete list of dates.

Anticipation for the record grew as Lou dropped one hot track after the other, his latest being Squeeze. Heavy hi-hats, silky synth work and effortless weaving between hip-hop bars and R&B grooves, the track features a smooth vocal performance by fellow Canadian R&B singer, JAHKOY, with production by ROMderful of tastemaker label, Soulection.

“This track was about a girl I was seeing at the time. The relationship turned out to be horrible but it’s all good,” Lou says of the track concept. “Jahkoy has an amazing voice and a lot of flavour. I’m honestly glad he killed the joint like he did.”

Previously, Lou shared visuals for Miss Phatty, directed by longtime collaborator, Christian Boakye-Agyeman. The song features production by BADBADNOTGOOD.

“Miss Phatty encourages the kids to go to the stripclub and to fall in love with them,” Lou says of the sentiment behind the song. “002 / LOVE ME is me telling relatable love stories that I have lived/Imagined/fantasized about, it contains the good and bad and the ugly of a relationship.”

Come Inside is the album’s bold first single that has been on heavy rotation since its drop in February, featuring Toronto rapper, Jazz Cartier, and frenetic cut, Want To (For The Youth).
