Toronto, ON – September 17, 2020 – Today, Local Natives release, Statues In The Garden (Arras), alongside a psychedelic animated music video by Jamie K Wolfe. Arras refers to the town in France where the song was first demoed. Its swirling, intricate arrangement frames the depiction of someone reconciling changes in themselves with a world that is also constantly changing. Watch Statues In The Garden (Arras) here.

In early March 2020, the band stopped by the Jimmy Kimmel Live! outdoor stage to perform their single, Dark Days (featuring Amelia Meath) – an update on the single from their 2016 album, Sunlit Youth – and When Am I Gonna Lose You – their Violet Street single that hit #3 on AAA and #6 for Alternative.

Earlier this year, Local Natives released a curated 3 volume remix album entitled, Violet Street (Remixes), with a coalition of eclectic DJs, electronic artists and producers. The original Violet Street [Loma Vista Recordings], released in 2019, is a record with modern production and visuals to form a timeless album. The band’s signature soaring 3-part harmonies are augmented by loops of tape, physically spliced and transformed by hand, the result of experimenting in the studio with producer Shawn Everett (Alabama Shakes, Kacey Musgraves, The War On Drugs).

Violet Street features singles including “lush and searching” (Stereogum) When Am I Gonna Lose You, whose cinematic video starred Kate Mara and was performed by the band on Ellen; Café Amarillo, which FADER hailed for “illustrating a sort of emotional purgatory;” and Tap Dancer that Brooklyn Vegan praised for its “elegiac ache.” Statues In The Garden (Arras) marks the first new original release since the band’s 2019 standalone single, Nova.
