AND POP ALBUM OF THE YEAR
FOR THEIR 2018 RELEASE HEAD OVER HEELS

RHYE UP FOR ADULT ALTERNATIVE ALBUM OF THE YEAR AND ALBUM ARTWORK OF THE YEAR FOR
SOPHOMORE RECORD BLOOD

Toronto, ON — February 1, 2019Last Gang Records is proud to have two of their world-renowned artists nominated for four 2019 JUNO Awards! Announced on Tuesday at a press conference in Toronto, funk legends, Chromeo, earned nods for Group of the Year and Pop Album of the Year, for their 2018 release, Head Over Heels; while Rhye saw nominations for Alternative Album of the Year and Album Artwork of the Year for their acclaimed sophomore release, Blood.

Chromeo saw mass praise for their latest release, Head Over Heels, which surpassed 25 million global album streams across all platforms, and earned a GRAMMY nomination for Best Engineered Album Non-Classical. They were heralded by media world-wide, with Consequence of Sound stating they “make a pretty compelling case for funk’s necessity”, Rolling Stone declaring them “an international force”, and Billboard asserting that “Chromeo’s charm is hypnotic”, while gracing the covers of VOIR Magazine and Canadian Musician.

The band toured the record extensively, giving over 100 live performances in 2018, with sold out shows in New York, Los Angeles, Toronto, Vancouver, San Francisco, Paris, London and more, plus festival plays at Coachella and Bonnaroo, where they were one of two acts to hit the main stage at each – as well as standout sets at Lollapalooza, Osheaga, Skookum and Pitchfork Fest. The duo made television appearances in 2018 on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert – becoming the only Canadian artist, besides Alessia Cara, to perform on both shows in 2018 – plus an exclusive full-band performance on NPR’s Tiny Desk.

Rhye's sophomore album, Blood, was released to immense praise, with The Guardian calling it a "perfectly judged sepulchral take on R&B" and NME proclaiming it a "triumph." Blood sees the rebirth of Rhye and Milosh coming into himself fully-formed while staying true to what NPR called the "reserved, understated and brilliant soul" of the project. Noisey celebrated it as “an album to dance to…and one to bring close to your heart, to your perceptions and subjections.” Exclaim! dubbed the album “mood music” in their February 2018 issue, where Rhye was featured as their cover story.

Rhye saw 2018 as a year of non-stop touring, including sold out headline performances at Massey Hall (Toronto), Corona Theatre (Montreal), Vogue Theatre (Vancouver), along with headline festival appearances at Hillside Festival, Westward Festival, Calgary Folk Festival, Winnipeg Folk Festival, and Mile End Festival. Key performances at Austin City Limits, Bumbershoot, Lowlands, Primavera, Pukkelpop, and more saw Rhye traverse to share the music with a global fanbase.

Last November, Rhye released the follow up, Blood Remixed, featuring 14 songs from Blood, as re-imagined by RY X, Moon Boots, Mano Le Tough, Poolside, Jacques Greene, Little Dragon, llangelo, amongst others. Rhye is currently working on new music, set for release in 2019.

The 2019 JUNO Award winners will be revealed in London, ON next month.
