JESSE TO GIVE SPECIAL PHYSICALLY DISTANCED PERFORMANCES AT LOCAL TORONTO RETIREMENT HOMES

Toronto, ON – April 24, 2020 – Today, multitalented Toronto breakthrough artist, Jesse Maxwell, releases Room In Hell. This is the second track to be shared from his upcoming debut album, Radio Silence, and follows previously released single, Average. Radio Silence is now set to drop on May 22 via Trans Phatt Records.

Room in Hell was written by Jesse and dives deep into his past inner struggles with addiction, and focuses on his time spent in rehab. The lyrics speak of the first time he called a rehab facility, sharing a raw description of how he felt and what he was going through at the time.

"As I open myself up emotionally, in the most transparent way I can, I present to you Room In Hell. A moment captured of the first time I called a rehab facility during my dark years of drug addiction – a moment of peak vulnerability and introspection in my life. "Helpless" to me, was where I was at.” Jesse explains. “I was broken and lacked a fundamental self-love, that I filled with drugs and toxicity. I was changed, sick, dark, with burned bridges and disconnected. It was only after several stints of rehab that I developed a love for myself, to know that my life was valuable and redeemable. So as cliché as it may sound, that one call changed my life. Today I live a clean and serene life which I never take for granted, but I wrote this song to reflect on where I have come from and it keeps me humble. Addiction gets the best of many people in this world, and you have to really be lucky to make it out the other side, so I remind myself of that and I remain grateful that I did.”

Along with the new single, Jesse is thrilled to share that he will be performing a series of physically distanced concerts for the residents of local retirement homes around Toronto. Kicking off on Thursday, April 30 at Cheltenham Care Community, Jesse will perform songs from outside of the homes, with the music being amplified so the residents are able to listen and enjoy through their windows.

"I felt this was an important thing to do right now and my job as an entertainer,” Jesse begins. “People are struggling, isolated from their families and dying from this awful disease and my role comes in by providing these people with a moment of distraction, love and relief from the situation temporarily. Music in general makes people feel good but especially at this time it is so important to make sure the people and the staff who are working so hard are given a moment to breathe and ground themselves through this."

Radio Silence was produced by Jesse and fellow Trans Phatt Records label artists, Astral22 and TopNachBeats. Jesse wrote every song that appears on the album and as a whole it is a perfect example of how he blends his own brand of pop, RnB, neo-soul, jazz and blues into his music. The album digs deep and represents an internal dialogue that any listener can relate to in some way. The concept of the album title is derived from the idea of going "radio silent" to a person’s surroundings and reflecting on their thoughts – having those internal conversations with one’s self.

Jesse began his relationship with music at age six when he was learning to play the piano and went on to complete 10 years of classical training and music theory at Toronto’s Royal Conservatory of Music. Over his many years of experience, he has honed his skills as a writer, lyricist and musician. During his time spent in Brooklyn, NYC where he attended the Institute of Culinary Education, Jesse was the frontman of the band Queens County Roots and this was but one of his many musical journeys. Since returning to Toronto he has become part of the Trans Phatt Records label and released three tracks in 2019 with them including; BladeLife on the Rocks and Colossal – all while working on his nine track debut album Radio Silence, set for release on May 22. Stay tuned for more on Jesse in the next few weeks!
