JAYLI WOLF RELEASES COVER OF SAM ROBERTS’ HARD ROAD

SONG FEATURED ON SERIES PREMIERE OF
CBC’S NEW LEGAL DRAMA BURDEN OF TRUTH

Toronto, ON – January 11, 2018 – Today, actress and musician, Jayli Wolf – lead singer of the pop duo, Once A Tree – releases a gorgeous rendition of the Sam Roberts classic song, Hard Road. The track was recorded for the brand new legal drama, Burden Of Truth, which debuted last night, Wednesday, January 10 at 8 p.m. (8:30 NT) on CBC, and was featured in the opening episode. Stream the beautiful cover here.

The track was produced by the show’s Music Supervisor, David Hayman, and mixed by Josh Bowman and Tim Foy at the Nelson Room, and features an all-star cast of musicians, including Anna Ruddick on bass, Derek Downham (The Beauties, Broken Social Scene) on percussion and strings, and Kelsey McNulty (Great Lake Swimmers) on piano.

"I have always been a huge Sam Roberts fan, so when I got the call about recording a cover, I pretty much screamed yes,” says Jayli. “It was amazing working in the studio with The Supergroup on a classic song like Hard Road."

The opening scene of Burden Of Truth depicts the show’s main character, Joanna, journeying back to her small hometown where she is vilified and must battle for the truth. Hard Road was the perfect fit for this scene, and show music supervisor, David Hayman, knew that Jayli would offer a captivating take on the song. “I’ve always had Jayli in my sights and we have both wanted to connect creatively for some time,” comments Hayman. “I have a great history with Sam Roberts and his team, and I knew they would love the idea of a West Coast vocalist like Jayli carrying this torch”.

Once A Tree – the husband and wife duo of Jayli Wolf and Hayden John Wolf – are breaking boundaries while connecting listeners through their genre-bending sound and impactful lyrics forged from personal experiences. Their debut EP, Thousand Lives, was released in the summer of 2015, followed by their debut full-length album, Phoenix, which was released this past November, garnering acclaim from the likes of Complex, Hypebeast, and Rolling Stone – who named the group as one of their Artists You Need To Know for November 2017. Have a look at the video for The Sea, which was featured on Phoenix.
