Toronto, ON – June 15, 2018 – Toronto-based pop artist, DCF (aka David Charles Fischer) has dropped the brand new track, 3 Steps (To Leave Your Mans) alongside a pop-art lyric video from viral artist SOMEHOODLUM.

SOMEHOODLUM, recognized for his collaborations with hop-hop artists from Lil Uzi Vert to Migos and Schoolboy Q, became friends with DCF after the musician slid into his DMs with suggestions of punny illustrations to try out. Often dubbed a meme-pop artist for his viral appeal, DCF’s collaboration with the art dynamo felt natural. “He does super lit illustrations of pop culture memes and I DM’d him to say he should do a drawing of Post Malone with a watermelon head and caption it ‘Water Malone’,” says DCF. “Anyways, he definitely didn’t hit me back because that suggestion sucked, but I just kept sending him ideas whenever I would think of them. A couple of weeks ago, I told him to do a drawing of Metro Boomin standing in a boyband-looking photo with the guys from Metro Station and caption it ‘Metro Station Boomin’ and voila, now we have this video coming out together!”

3 Steps is the third release coming from DCF’s debut LP – due out later this year on Entertainment One – the song is an acoustic-driven breakup anthem. DCF was inspired to write the tune for a friend who was “trapped in a relationship with somebody who didn’t treat her with the respect that every person deserves,” DCF continues. “Sometimes when you feel trapped in a relationship, getting out can seems paralyzingly complicated, so I just wanted to remind her that if she wanted to gtfo she could.” Listen here

ABOUT DCF
DCF’s affection for pop music inspired him to release his interpretations of some of the most recognizable millennial hits in a series of attention grabbing online mixtapes. While anchoring these tuneful samples with straight up honest lyrics and a wink to his trademark ironic "bad boy next door" persona, DCF started tapping into an online fan base of alternative music fans wondering if pop music actually is for them. His instantly hummable mixtape offerings soon led to his first indie release, Pop Songs, an EP of original songs brimming with standout pop hooks, indelible melodies, and lyrics that flirt with less than sober twenty-something melancholy. His unique brand of neo-pop, has comfortably found a home somewhere between the sensibilities of Frank Ocean and the springy croon of Justin Timberlake, with a layer of undeniable Drake-confidence. His live show has been packing Toronto clubs, with fans and friends eager to support their homegrown pop-prince and newcomers feeling like they’ve stumbled onto the tipping point of an artist about to drop.
