Toronto, ON – June 18, 2020 – On May 27th via Alt Press, daysormay debuted theirearworm single, Role Model, featuring rising indie-pop artist, Tessa Violet. The collaboration with Tessa gives way to a high-energy jam that is undeniably infectious – racking up over 200k streams to date, and landing on numerous playlists, including Spotify’s New Music Friday Canada, The New Alt, Indie Pop, It’s A Bop, and Apple’s Best New Music and Rising Alternative. The video for Role Model was shot in Vancouver, on zero sleep. "We’d all been awake for 24 hours or more,” says daysormay. “The night before the video shoot we were in the studio working on Tessa’s part all night and ended up only going home to grab camera gear between the studio and the shoot."
Tessa adds, "We were like maniacs on that shoot day. We literally went straight from the studio at like 3 a.m. to shoot at dawn at 5 a.m. and were up for well over 24 hours. So much fun though to just be the four of us and our camera op running around Vancouver to put together this music video."
Role Model is a clear indication of how they are unsatisfied with churning out simple three-minute rock standards. Audiences will hear how daysormay has continued to challenge their craft by incorporating pulsing drums, enchanting synths and guitars, unforgettable melodies and sharp-witted lyrics.
With influences like Phoenix, Glass Animals and Portugal. The Man, singer Aidan Andrews and twin brothers / rhythm section Carson and Nolan Bassett are carving out a unique space in modern alternative music and they have the online fanship to show it. It was a member of that dedicated following that tweeted at Tessa Violet, and suggested daysormay as openers for her 2019 tour. After doing some quick online research about the band, Tessa was instantly hooked on the music, specifically their song Role Model. She brought daysormay out on the road and was so blown away that she subsequently introduced them to her team at T∆G Music, where Tessa herself holds a creative development position. Full-circle moment, daysormay will release their new EP (worldwide ex Canada) through T∆G Music’s label in early 2021.
