CONCORD CELEBRATES GRAMMY WINS
Toronto, ON – January 27, 2020 – Artists and songwriters from across Concord’s vast roster were among the winners in many major categories at the GRAMMY® Awards last evening in Los Angeles.
Fantasy Records artist, Tanya Tucker, took home two GRAMMY Awards for her album, While I’m Livin’. Tanya earned the first GRAMMYs of her career in the categories of Best Country Album and Best Country Song (Bring My Flowers Now), along with her co-writers, Brandi Carlile, Phil Hanseroth and Tim Hanseroth. Tucker and Carlile offered a stirring performance of Bring My Flowers Now during the telecast.
Also, during the televised ceremony, Ariana Grande paid tribute to Rodgers & Hammerstein’s, My Favorite Things, segueing into her chart-topping hit, 7 rings, both of which are published by Concord Music Publishing.
Concord Records and Concord Music Publishing artist and songwriter, Keb’ Mo’, received the Best Americana Album GRAMMY for Oklahoma, while label mates, Elvis Costello & The Imposters, won a GRAMMY Award for their album, Look Now, in the Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album category.
On the Concord Jazz label, Esperanza Spalding was recognized with a GRAMMY for 12 Little Spells (Jazz Vocal Album). Chick Corea & The Spanish Heart Band’s Antidote earned them an award for Best Latin Jazz Album. This was Chick’s 23rd GRAMMY win.
Rounder Records all-female Americana trio, I’m With Her (Sarah Jarosz, Aoife O'Donovan & Sara Watkins), was recognized in the Best Americana Roots Song category for Call My Name.
Concord Music Publishing songwriter, Jacob Collier, won GRAMMY Awards for Best Arrangement, Instrumental or A Cappella and Best Arrangement, Instruments and Vocals for his work on Moon River and All Night Long, respectively.
Concord Music Publishing songwriters contributed to a number of projects that prompted GRAMMY wins this year for the performing artists: Mark Ronson (Alternative Music Album, Vampire Weekend and Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media, A Star Is Born), Walshy Fire (Reggae Album, Koffee) and Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart (Classical Solo Album, Joyce DiDonato).
The GRAMMY for Best Musical Theater Album was won by the cast of HADESTOWN. Concord Theatricals is a producer on the Tony® Award-winning Broadway production.
In a farewell tribute to longtime producer of the GRAMMY Awards ceremony, Ken Ehrlich, Concord artists and songwriters, Cyndi Lauper, Common and The War And Treaty, performed I Sing the Body Electric from the acclaimed film, Fame.
