LET LOVE OUT AUGUST 30 ON LOMA VISTA RECORDINGS

Toronto, ON – August 15, 2019 Today, Common — the GRAMMY® Award-winning rapper, activist, and best-selling author whose music helped ignite a wave of incisive-yet-insightful hip-hop culture — releases the video for Hercules (feat. Swizz Beatz), the latest single from his life-surveying, therapeutic new album Let Love out August 30th on Loma Vista Recordings. Pre-order Let Love here.

The video — directed by ART and produced by Cole Cook — depicts the song’s message of strength and perseverance in concrete terms: images of police brutality and protests abound as the video’s protagonist (portrayed by Marcato) receives fatherly counsel from Swizz Beatz. Common plays the role of narrator, cool-headed and direct as he addresses the challenges and rigidity of Black manhood. Watch Hercules here.

Common just appeared as the lead guest on Fallon, discussing Let Love, freestyling with up-and-coming rapper Ray Wimley, and performing Hercules alongside Swizz Beatz. Watch the performance here.

Last week, Common performed to a packed Queen Elizabeth Theatre in Toronto, sharing Let Love’s gems live. He stopped by CBC Radio One’s q program for a chat and freestyle (a first for the show), in addition to iHeartRadio Canada, etalk and CBC News Toronto.

Common also recently made an appearance on CBS Sunday Morning, where he discussed the new album, his New York Times bestselling memoir Let Love Have The Last Word, his work bringing arts education to the Chicago neighbourhood where he grew up, and more. Watch here.

Let Love is a radical statement from a rapper in 2019: Inspired by a phone call from his daughter that led him to re-examine his values and lifestyle, Common delves into issues of fatherhood, masculinity, self-care, and more. With contributions from A-Trak, BJ The Chicago Kid, Leon Bridges, Daniel Caesar, Dwele, Leikeli47, Jill Scott, and more, Let Love finds Common collaborating across generational lines and sounding as vital as ever.

Common is currently on the Let Love tour — full dates below, with more dates to be announced soon.
