TORONTO, ON – April 5, 2018 – Audiotree and Paquin Entertainment have unveiled the launch of Audiotree North, an extension of the Chicago company’s unparalleled live performance format. The partnership’s mission celebrates founder, Michael Johnston’s vision of prioritizing video, sound and graphic quality above all else in order to create the best possible product in support of artists. The official launch of Audiotree North will take place on May 11 during Canadian Music Week at the historic Horseshoe Tavern with a full line-up of artists, which will be announced at a later date.
“We could not be more excited to launch an Audiotree division in a country like Canada, who's private and public sector both support the arts in such a genuine and robust way,” says Johnston. “We are honored to have the opportunity to work with an amazing company like Paquin. They have a rich history in the entertainment business and a reputation of putting their artists needs and wishes first, above all else. Both of our companies core missions align perfectly."
As part of Audiotree North’s launch, the team filmed live music videos with six artists in Toronto at the Great Hall, the Longboat and Revolution Recording. This pilot session featured PUP, Lido Pimienta, Casper Skulls, Pony, Magic Giant and Begonia. The debut video features PUP performing their song Familiar Patterns. Watch the video here.
“Paquin Entertainment is proud to align itself with an ambitious and forward-thinking company, like Audiotree,” explains President Julien Paquin. “It’s exciting to watch how platforms like YouTube and Spotify have leveled out the playing field and thereby giving new artists the opportunity to be discovered. The launch of Audiotree North allows us to play a part in sharing talent we’re excited about, and hopefully, as music fans, we can help contribute to their career growth.”
Since Audiotree began in 2011, it has grown to become a mainstay for artists touring through Chicago. Considered a coup - by managers, record labels, and artists - to book an Audiotree Live session, the multimedia company has filmed and recorded over 3000 artists, including Shakey Graves, Glass Animals, Julien Baker, Arkells and The Sheepdogs. In addition to the “Far Out” live video sessions, Audiotree also films studio sessions and live performances at one of their Chicago venues: Lincoln Hall and Schubas. Audiotree currently boasts over 330k YouTube subscribers from around the world, who’ve watched more than 500 million minutes of content.
