BEAR’S DEN PREMIERES VIDEO FOR CROW

NEW ALBUM SO THAT YOU MIGHT HEAR ME OUT APRIL 26 VIA ROUNDER RECORDS

EMBARKING ON NORTH AMERICAN TOUR THIS SUMMER

Toronto, ON – April 17, 2019 –
Acclaimed U.K.-based band, Bear’s Den, premiered the video for their track, Crow, from their highly anticipated third album, So that you might hear me, which is set for release on April 26 via Rounder Records. The video was filmed in four locations across four countries—Nashville, Sao Paulo, London and Brussels — and features real people with their own real stories. Watch/share the video here and listen to the song here.

The song Crow was written in memory of my Mum’s boyfriend who lived with us growing up. He was an awesome guy and somewhere between a father figure and a best friend to me but unfortunately he passed away when I was about 15. I wrote this song as I wanted to acknowledge how important and thankful I am to him for helping to raise me and my sister,” says Andrew Davie (lead vocals, guitar).

With the story of the song firmly in mind we thought that a music video that celebrated the idea of family would be the most appropriate thing we could do. We receive an overwhelming number of messages from people telling us about their relationships with the songs and their stories of how those songs have interacted with their lives. We wanted to honor those stories and provide an opportunity for their stories to be told somehow. We firmly believe that once a song is written and recorded and available, we cannot claim it to be ours, alone, anymore. This song lyrically encompasses so much of what we stand for. Talking openly about difficult things and also sharing those thoughts with our fans in the hope we can support each other and feel less alone in life’s harder moments. There is a weight to our relationship with our audience that we take seriously and won’t ever take for granted and that’s where the idea for the video for Crow came from.”

Most recently, the band debuted a video for its lead single, Laurel Wreath, which CLASH called “powerful.” The album’s previously released songs, Fuel on the Fire and Blankets of Sorrow, continue to receive critical praise as well. The Independentraves, “[Fuel on the Fire] adds glitchy beats to traditional rock instrumentation, all thrumming beneath frontman Andrew Davie’s sonorous vocals,” while The Wild Honey Pie furthers, “It is obvious from these new singles from the group that their sound is evolving but keeping what has magnificently worked for the band.”

So that you might hear me was recorded at several studios in Seattle with producer Phil Ek (The Shins, Fleet Foxes, Father John Misty) and was mixed by Craig Silvey (Arcade Fire, Metronomy). Pairing melodies with poignant and unsettlingly personal lyricism, the need for connection lies at the heart of So that you might hear me.

In support of the release, the band will embark on an extensive run of North American tour dates this summer starting on May 6 in Austin, TX. The run of shows includes stops at New York’s Irving Plaza, Los Angeles’ The Fonda Theatre, Nashville’s Marathon Music Works, D.C.’s 9:30 Club, Chicago’s Thalia Hall and more. See below for a complete list of dates.

The London-based band played music in various incarnations before officially forming in 2012. Their 2014 debut album, Islands, earned them an Ivor Novello nomination, the U.K.’s most prestigious songwriting accolade, alongside notable acts Ben Howard and Hozier while Red Earth & Pouring Rain reached #6 on the U.K. album chart. The band has sold almost 500,000 records over the course of their career and after four years of nonstop touring has sold over 100,000 tickets worldwide including global festival appearances at Bonnaroo and Glastonbury.
