AUSTRALIA’S BUSBY MAROU SHARE NEW SINGLE OVER DRINKING OVER YOU

NEW ALBUM THE GREAT DIVIDE OUT THIS SEPTEMBER

CANADIAN TOUR DATES KICK OFF NEXT WEEK WITH SHOWS IN GRAVENHURST, TORONTO, BURNSTOWN AND GUELPH

Toronto, ON – July 5, 2019 – Best known for their distinctly Australian storytelling and gifted musicianship, Busby Marou – a.k.a. Tom Busby (hailing from sunny Queensland) and Jeremy Marou (from the beautiful Torres Strait Islands) – today share their brand new single, Over Drinking Over You, the first taste of their fourth studio album, The Great Divide, due for release this September. Have a listen to the new single here, and catch the band on tour in Canada this month (full details below).

With millions of global streams, top 20 airplay and three ARIA charting albums – including their ARIA Gold self-titled album – 2013 ARIA Top 5 Farewell Fitzroy, and most recently, the ARIA #1 debut, Postcards From The Shell House, it is clear that Busby Marou are fast becoming a national Australian treasure.

Firmly established as one of Australia’s hardest working and most loved live bands, Tom and Jeremy have been playing music together for over a decade since their initial music connection at a pub in Rockhampton. There is potent chemistry that drives Busby Marou, and it is that unwritten agenda, a simple intangible understanding between them, that they will continue to drive into the exciting new chapter in their remarkable career.

2019 started with the recording of their fourth studio album, The Great Divide, with Oscar Dawson (Alex Lahey/Holy Holy) at the helm as producer. The connection was instant and compelling, and the result is the proudest moment in the bands career to date. Speaking of the new album, the duo noted, “The Great Divide is not about division or adversaries. It's about recognising that we all have a different account of events in our own lives and celebrating how those differences combine to create a unique and colourful story. Without our great divide, there is no Busby Marou story.”

Over Drinking Over You is a song about when fun habits stop being fun. The symptom is a broken heart and the medicine is the whiskey to endure it. This new record is a powerful chapter of the story of two men, from two different worlds, on the same journey. This is the first chapter demonstrating maturity as a result of sharing life experiences. It's the wisdom of love, heartbreak, and grief. It's the education by mistakes. It's the knowledge of truth. It's the appreciation of the journey. It's the respect of culture. It's pride. Proud of where they came from, but more importantly proud of who they've become. The modern face of Australia.

This month, the duo will make the trip over to Canada, to play a string of shows across Ontario, including stops in Gravenhurst, Toronto, Burnstown, and at Hillside Festival in Guelph. On stage, a key element of Busby Marou’s performance is the intertwining of vocal interplay of two life-long mates. The duo puts an exuberant energy into touring their home country, loving the live experience as much in a country beer barn, as they do in a slick inner city theatre, and capped off 2018 by playing their biggest ever headline show to over 3,000 people in Rockhampton at their own One Hot Night festival.
