ASTROCOLOR RELEASES ASTROCOLOR II EP VIA ENTERTAINMENT ONE MUSIC

Toronto, ON – April 7th, 2017 – Today, Victoria, BC-based electronica group, Astrocolor, delivers their new EP, Astrocolor II, via Entertainment One Music. The album is a follow up to their December 2016 self-titled three-track EP of cosmic house and electronics, bridging live with studio recordings, recalling The Chemical Brothers, Air and St. Germain. Astrocolor II is available to stream and purchase on Spotify, Apple Music and Google Play.
Astrocolor is celebrating the release tonight with a hometown show at Lucky Bar in Victoria, BC. In addition, the group will head east to bring their unique live performance to Canadian Music Week in Toronto, with a set alongside New York’s Too Many Zooz at The Mod Club on April 21st. Astrocolor II is a stunning beat-and-pulse driven record of techno, house and funk, blended with intricate strings and jazzy percussion. The EP was produced by Neil Cooke-Dallin and mixed by Count (Tycho, DJ Shadow, Thievery Corporation).
Commencing with Push Too Hard, featuring sultry vocals by Fox Glove, the album dives into a diverse foray of sound. El Escape wavers through consistent tempo and groove, while Figure It Out and Tokyo Metro are complimented by soulful saxophone and light keys. There are three remix tracks on the album – two by Righteous Rainbows of Togetherness and one by Anand Greenwell – that are perfect for both solo listening and the nightclub. Astrocolor released their debut, Lit Up, in 2015, which Clash (UK) called, “Ethereal joy…straddling relaxed jazz, funky electronics, vaguely psychedelic rock and spatial dub.” The Sunday Times (UK) praised the record as, “Spacey, dubby, jazzy background/foreground music.”
