ASTROCOLOR III OUT NOW VIA EONE MUSIC

ON TOUR IN CANADA THIS SUMMER
WITH A STOP AT BURNING MAN

Toronto, ON – June 21, 2018 – Victoria, BC-based electronica group, Astrocolor, share the video for Smell Of Acid (feat. Tyler Rowe), the lead single from their latest EP, Astrocolor III, which is the culminating piece of their self-titled trilogy. Following the release, the group received a nomination for Electronic Artist of the Year at the Western Canadian Music Awards, while launching a tour of the summer festival circuit. They announced a new run of dates throughout British Columbia, with a stop at the revered Burning Man Festival in Nevada. See below for a complete list and watch the video for Smell Of Acid here.

"We had been noticing elements from late 90s electronic music creeping back in to modern music. In the studio, we made a break through when our drummer played a classic breakbeat and we started teaming it up with the acid synthesizer sounds you might have heard from a classic Chemical Brothers or Crystal Method track,” says DJ and producer, Neil Cooke-Dallin. “It still needed a little something and when we invited our friend Tyler Rowe to come down and drop some verses, the whole track just seemed to gel perfectly."

The music video was directed by Holland Kerr and Astrocolor, and sees front man Neil Cooke-Dallin transition from warehouse employee drudgery to rock star glory (at least in his dreams). Smell of Acid was inspired by late 90s breakbeat and iconic electronic influences such as The Chemical Brothers and The Crystal Method.

Based in western Canada, Astrocolor perform and record live electronic music, recalling the Chemical Brothers, Air, and St. Germain. The band plays on the edges of funky house, Balearic, breakbeat, and ambient. Astrocolor III sees the band’s instrumental and electronic roots expand into traditional song formats with feature vocals (A Light Goes Out feat. Kuba Oms), acid breakbeat (Smell of Acid), alternative house (Daylight Savings), and electro-funk (Break Your Body). Produced by Neil Cooke-Dallin, Astrocolor III is built equally for a big night out in the clubs or a dinner party soundtrack at home.

Astrocolor have brought their celebratory live show to seminal western Canadian music festivals including Rifflandia, Song & Surf, Tall Tree, and Atmosphere Gathering. The band also made debut appearances last year in Toronto (Canadian Music Week), Seattle (Upstream Music Festival), Vancouver (with Five Alarm Funk at the legendary Commodore Ballroom), St Louis, and Chicago. Astrocolor’s catalogue of original material has well over one million plays on Spotify and a loyal following of regular listeners globally.

The EP Collection – Astrocolor I, II, III – is available now on vinyl at astrocolormusic.com. Each individual EP is available on all major streaming platforms and digital providers.
