Toronto, ON – February 28, 2020 – Today, rising star, Ant Saunders, releases U Know It’s Real via Arista Records. The R&B-tinged single marks the first new track following the massive success of his breakout single, Yellow Hearts. Ant will continue to release music throughout the month, with an EP to release this spring. Stay tuned for upcoming tour dates and festival appearances. Watch the video for U Know It’s Real here.
Of the new single, Ant says, “The video draws a parallel between imaginary and real love. It portrays a character with the desire of being in a loving and compassionate relationship, and the confidence that he’s capable of doing so, but not the confidence of actually doing it. He gives that energy to a fake, lifeless lover who wouldn’t leave him as a result. The concept was very odd – but it’s something we had fun with!”
In the summer of 2019, Ant Saunders released Yellow Hearts on the day of his high school graduation, a song he wrote and recorded in his bedroom. After posting on TikTok a few months later, Yellow Hearts caught on like wildfire and now sits at over 260 million global streams. The track is now certified gold in the U.S. and Canada, and landed on the Billboard Hot 100. Ant tapped fellow up-and-coming artists, Audrey Mika, for a new rendition of Yellow Hearts earlier this month. Watch their official video here.
Ant began writing and recording in middle school using Audacity and a USB mic as an outlet to understand his emotions and the world around him. Influenced by R&B and hip-hop acts like Frank Ocean, Daniel Caesar, Tyler the Creator, as well as singer-songwriters like Ed Sheeran, John Legend, and John Mayer, Ant’s combination of lyrical storytelling and velvet vocal delivery makes for a uniquely flagrant and refreshing sound.
Ant was born in Germany, where his parents were stationed in the military before eventually settling in the small town of Woodbury Heights, New Jersey.
