Toronto, ON – November 2, 2018 – Andrew Bird’s new song, Bloodless, debuts today along with the track’s official music video – watch and share here.

In a statement to NPR Music, Bird reflects, “We find ourselves in a cold civil war. Everyone is playing their part too well. Certain actors are reaping power and wealth from divisiveness. Echoes of the Spanish Civil War when fascists and clergy win because they put up a united front against the individualistic and principled (yet scattered) left. We can turn this ship around but need to step back and be honest with ourselves about what’s happening while it’s still relatively bloodless.”

This marks Bird’s first new single in over a year. A physical 7” of the track will be available December 14 – pre-order here. See below for the lyrics in full.

The new song comes on the heels of Bird’s critically acclaimed symphonic orchestra shows, of which Los Angeles Times proclaimed, “Bird’s violin virtuosity, gracious demeanor and self-searching songs seemed right at home.”

Andrew Bird is an internationally acclaimed multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, whistler, and songwriter who picked up his first violin at the age of four and spent his formative years soaking up classical repertoire completely by ear. He has released 13 albums to date and performed extensively worldwide.
