Toronto, ON – October 25, 2019 – Alternative troubadour, Mondo Cozmo (aka Josh Ostrander), shared his latest single, Come On, today alongside a music video featuring friend and actress Anna Faris. It premiered on Billboard, who stated, “Come On pairs his endlessly accessible sound with powerful lyrics that hold a heavier, more personal weight.”

In addition to starring Anna Farris, Come On was directed by noted cinematographer and director Michael Barrett, who expressed working on the video “was an inspired evening spent celebrating friends.” Undoubtedly a fan-favourite in the making, this acoustic guitar driven number breaks into a lush, anthemic chorus as Ostrander belts out a refrain perfectly suited to a late-night singalong, driving down an open highway.

Lyrically, Come On falls in line with the observational commentary that has drawn so many people to Mondo Cozmo as he paints a picture of watching a city burn inspired by the recent fires that devastated Malibu. The accompanying visual unwinds into an emotional rollercoaster as Faris makes her way through an empty house, reflecting on memories of the past.

When composing, Come On, Ostrander and the track’s co-writer, Dan Wilson (Semisonic), found inspiration in the mood captured so perfectly by the laid back ‘90s alt-rock anthems that were so pivotal to that generation. As the track came together, an all-star line-up assembled to see it come to fruition including Peter Hayes (Black Rebel Motorcycle Club) on guitar, Sean Friday (Dead Sara) on drums, producer Lars Stalfors (Cold War Kids, Mars Volta) and mix engineer Spike Stent (Ed Sheeran. Muse). Come On follows the politically charged, Black Cadillac, as the second single released from Mondo Cozmo’s sophomore album, due out next year on Last Gang Records. You can watch the video for Come On here and find the track on all streaming services now.

On the single, Josh Ostrander stated, “I went to Dan Wilson’s house and asked him if we could write a song like Low by Cracker. The song that came from that attempt was Come On. During this time, the Malibu Fires were burning, the idea of watching the city burn was where this imagery came from. Sean Friday played drums, Peter Hayes played guitar as my hand was still busted, produced by Lars Stalfors, mixed by the legend Spike Stent.”

Mondo Cozmo’s music has all the makings of the soundtrack to the current era and beyond. His 2017 full-length debut, Plastic Soul, boasted the #1 single, Shine. In addition to performing everywhere from Lollapalooza to Bonnaroo, toured alongside Bastille and Spoon, and opened for Muse. Dan Reynolds of Imagine Dragons joined him for a live duet on The Verve’s Bittersweet Symphony, while Anna Faris starred in the video for Hold On To Me and Paz de La Huerta starred in the video, Higher. Mondo Cozmo is currently working on his forthcoming album, aided and abetted by friends and family, including producer Butch Vig, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Dan Wilson, Lars Stalfors and others.
