ALLIE X ANNOUNCES NEW ALBUM CAPE GOD TO BE RELEASED ON FEBRUARY 21

ALBUM AVAILABLE FOR PRE-ORDER NOW

FIRST MAJOR HEADLINE TOUR TO KICK OFF IN MARCH WITH CANADIAN DATES IN VANCOUVER, TORONTO & MONTREAL

Toronto, ON – December 16, 2019 – Following the release of her emotive new single, Love Me Wrong, featuring long-time friend and collaborator, Troye Sivan, goth-pop darling, Allie X, announces her highly anticipated new album, Cape God – out February 21, 2020. An electric moment for the singer, this is her most radical and powerful album yet. Filled with emotional vibratos and captivating lyrics, the album touches on the nature of identity and what it truly means to be an outsider. In addition to the Troye Sivan collaboration on Love Me Wrong – which has already hit over one million listens on Spotify alone – Cape God features a collaboration with beloved singer and songwriter Mitski.

After finishing a two-month long tour supporting Marina and Charli XCX across North America and Europe, Allie X is thrilled to now announce her first major headline tour, which includes Canadian stops in Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal. Tickets are available for pre-sale, and Cape God is available for pre-order now.

To create the world of Cape God – a world that Allie X had been ruminating over for years – she joined creative forces with producer, Oscar Görres. The album was recorded in Sweden over the course of a few short weeks, full of seamless and intense energy. What developed quite naturally was an eclectic and eerie sound that nods to Allie X’s past, while pointing to a new future of music for the artist.

Allie X comments, “This feels the most ‘me’ of anything I’ve ever made” – while friend, Sasha Velour, so poignantly describes it as “a gaudy North-American kind of melancholy”. Sonically, Cape God spans multiple dimensions and genres that are both atmospheric and standalone. As a result, this record is bound to appeal to fans old and new.

For Allie X, the journey of writing Cape God was reflective and intimate. Allie X says, “Going into these buried feelings I had as a teenager was the perspective I chose to write this album from. It happened very naturally and without much thought once I started. As always, it was easiest to add an element of fantasy and aesthetic beauty to tell my story, and thus Cape God was born. If I had to make a mission statement for this record I would say: Cape God is a liminal space I created to explore my repressed feelings and perhaps create a different outcome.”

These moments of contrasting tension and clear perspective are daring and fresh. With bold visuals to compliment, and two music videos directed by artist, SSION, the world of Cape God has a creative energy all its own. Original and fierce, Allie X has quickly become a force to be reckoned with.
