ALEXANDRIA MAILLOT HEADS OUT ON TWO COINS COLLABORATIVE TOUR WITH CALGARY’S KIRSTEN LUDWIG

DOCU-FILM TO BE SHOT DURING RUN OF SHOWS

SPLIT-SINGLE BY THE PAIR TO BE RELEASED
EXCLUSIVELY FOR THE TOUR

Toronto, ON – March 15, 2017 – Next month, Vancouver-based bedroom folk-pop artist, Alexandria Maillot, will embark on a Canadian tour with Calgary haunt-folk musician, Kirsten Ludwig. In addition to trekking across the country, the pair will be releasing a split 7” exclusively for the tour, and will be documenting the tour along the way for a short docu-film to be released at the end of the run. Before heading out, Maillot will play a hometown show with JUNO-nominated, Lisa Leblanc, on March 25th at the Biltmore Cabaret. See below for a full list of tour dates.

"Our tour, titled Two Coins, is a sonic and visual concept that originated from the idea that artists collaborating with other artists create bodies of work that are far bigger than what they would have been as a singular perspective.,” comments Maillot. “Particularly, those artists who challenge and expand on the ever-evolving definition of what it means to be an artist. We wanted to tell a story from the female perspective on the road – a narrative far too under-represented – particularly, DIY, unsigned female touring artists. For our tour, we have created a split 7" of an unreleased single from each artist, as well as cassettes and limited edition/handmade merch which exist only on this tour. As well, a visual element will play for the duration of the show, changing and transforming as the set progresses. A very talented photographer/videographer is joining us to collect content for a series of films and footage to be released after tour commences."

Maillot has been carving her name in the Canadian music landscape with the swoony bedroom-pop showcased on her debut full-length album, Time (self-released on June 10, 2016). At 24 years, Maillot’s lush vocals and reflective lyrical narratives have often garnered her comparisons to music heavyweights such as Feist and Basia Bulat, and Time has proven to be a body of work that has merited national radio attention and widespread critical acclaim amongst industry peers and music-lovers alike.
